Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

Traveled 500km to do that

Tell us setlist when they done!

Randy Blithe is a fucking AMAZING singer, holy balls. They had this big elaborate stage set up with ramps and shit and their album cover behind them, it was pretty cool.

I never really heard anything by Lamb of God but Randy Blythe was awesome on Adoration for None on Gojira's new album. And I guess Alexi Läiho's gotten worse... I used to be a CoB fan but their newest album is pure poo.

IMO he's one of few genuinely talented screamers, he just sounds authentic. And Adoration for None is indeed twice heavier with him :)

Oh and I saw Opeth like two weeks ago. Akerfeldt was hilarious (does he always tell the public things like "you're so awesome I'm gonna get a wank when back in hotel"?) and just a perfect performer, singing was perfect and he didn't look like all of it was any effort for him.

Besides, they're apparently band for tall people, it was tallest (and most annoying due to that, shorter people didn't see shit I guess) audience I've ever seen.

Yes he does. He's always funny, he made me laugh all of the four times I seen Opeth live. The most fun is when he's talking to a dude (usually drunk) in the audience, like the last time we saw them live they were playing here in Stavanger, and a dude starts yelling in a really weird swedish voice "JAG VIL VÆRA DIN TJEJ MIKAEL" which means something like "I want to be your girl Mikael" and he said it in a really hilarious voice so the band started cracking up. Indeed I must see them again. Hopefully next time they won't have a hangover and Per won't play the keyboard interlude in Hessian Peel wrong hahahaha that was fucking awesome.

^ LOLS really?! That's awesome. At the show I saw, he was very witty and it seemed effortless there as well. I hope I'm in for a treat come May when they're coming here. Anyone know how tall Mendez is? He's a good looking guy, albeit quite wee. Just curious. No offense to him or anything. Oh, and Axenrot looks like Legolas IMO.

Anyways, the last show I saw was just this Wednesday. Wasn't my idea, but I went anyway. They were called Bohren and Der Club of Gore. That name's pretty metal, but it was actually painfully slow ambient jazz  I love jazz, I love ambient.... but please: I need a tempo above 50 BPM for at least some of the songs. And the opening act was interesting... but not my cup of tea. It was this dude who was dressed in a black, hooded cape, and he would sing into a microphone and then loop and layer his voice. There were probably 30-40 vocals layers. He was kind of going for the Druid look or something... reminded me of the whole "Stonehenge" ordeal in Spinal Tap :?

It was an odd show. Sometimes the bass was so resonant it rattled my teeth and my chair =/

Saw yesterday couple of local bands and Rotten Sound. RS played very tight as always and the "new" drummer knows how to play and I didn't miss Kai Hahto that much anymore :) Final song was Carcass-cover Reek Of Putrefaction and it was great, slightly faster than original. Here's some nice live clip with the same line-up from 2007: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNjTXpShg-U

Gojira could use a better singer anyway.

Mendez and Per are both fairly short, Mikael was about the same height as me around 184, and Axe a bit taller. If they're walking outside the venue before the gig (which I no doubt they will) it'll be hard to recognize Per because of the massive beard and his smallness... And sometimes the hoodie.

^ Thanks for that well thought out and in depth answer
It'd be cool to meet those guys, I bet they'd be fun to hang out with - they seem pretty nice to their fans.

I love his shirt here BTW, it's pretty hard to see but I think that's a Nosferatu shirt. Do want.

Side note:
This video is the best thing ever. Perhaps some of you have seen it

LOL look at Akerfeldt's face at 2:05. He genuinely seems embarrassed. Poor guy, he's such a goober :D

They were fucking awesome friendly. And I think they realise that some fans (myself included) sometimes get a bit  when they see them so they're like "oh hai!". That happened twice to me and mah friend. It was slightly embarrassing. But check out the DT vid I posted in the youtube thread Cat!

Bwahaha I just watched that video - I'm still laughing. Thanks for putting it up! :D
Now I'm trying to find this video I was recently where Portnoy screams 'cock-smoker' in the background while Rudess is doing a respectable backstage interview with the group lol

Why clearly there's a bald vampire on his shirt, can you not see that? What's wrong with you?  No I know it's pretty hard to see. I swear I've seen larger photos of it, I just can't seem to find them when I'm trying to make a point

That's you Biert? Whoa I didn't know what you looked like. Sweet Pic! :D
