I...wouldn't do a low carb diet if I were you.

Just have a balanced diet, watch what you're eating (like, have a biscuit by all means, don't have two fucking packets of biscuits) and exercise regularly. It ACTUALLY works.

This, exactly. Low carb makes you lose weight fast but the second you throw in any sort of carb you gain everything right back. Speaking from multiple experiences. The body wants to be balanced so that's what you should give it. I think diets too are misleading as it implies I'll do this for awhile, lose weight, then get back to eating whatever I want. The key to good health in my experience is saying I'm changing to a healthy lifestyle and staying to that.

I sound like a douche :D

Fad diets always have major health risks.

I've lost 19kg since January 8) Carbs are not the enemy, you just have to (like with every other food group) know when enough is enough. Meticulous measuring of "evil" food groups makes eating unenjoyable. Just think "kay, I'm gonna make a curry, but I will have LOTS of vegetables in it, I will use lean meat in it, and I will use the small measuring scoop for uncooked rice". Just little things like using a griddle pan, or grilling instead of frying, and if you do fry, use a frying spray instead of oil etc. AND EXERCIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISE! The reason why I piled on so much last year was because I was eating a LOT of junk food (I'm talking 2 Frijj milkshakes on the way to work, Relentless while I was there, fuckloads of biscuits, probably lunch twice, chocolate on the way home, occasionally I'd pop into the Mediterranean cake shop on the industrial estate I worked on and buy about 2 kilos of sugary fatty cakey things for a fiver etc.), I had long, physically and mentally hard workdays and I was eating shitloads of bad stuff to give me short energy boosts. But I'm not cutting anything out now, just...not eating like a mental person.

So, there's a Finnish weather forecaster where I work now. (Well, his family's Finnish. He's American-born, but definitely still Finnish.) Found out that he pronounces sauna "Saw-oo-na". And, since it's a Finnish word, we've all been pronouncing it incorrectly. Crazy.
