I believe evolution is constantly moving us on every level in every part of our daily lives. Even the most insignificant part of your life can be seen as a step towards evolution on any level, whether it be physical, mental or physiological. Evolution is learning, we learn every day from actions we do to ourselves and each other. Love, fear, compassion and anger are all part of us evolving in some way. If we did not experience these traits in life then we would not evolve.

Sadly though, I think our evolution has been put on hiatus for sometime now. We seem to concentrate to much time and effort on what's wrong with the planet and each other, rather than a solution to evolve further.

Evolution is not that poetic you know. It doesn't end somewhere and doesn't necessarily make us better. I get a feeling that you see it rather like leveling up in videogame and this is not the case.

I think our evolution has been put on hiatus for sometime now.
However, this I think is very true. When even the dumbest motherfucker on the planet can have kids there is not that much "natural selection" going on anymore. I wonder wether the collective IQ in industrialised countries is dropping or rising...

I love how managed to put "evolution doesnt necessarily make us better" and saying evolution isn't happening right now because it isn't making us better into the same post. It is happening. For better or for worse.

Dude what the hell!? That's not what I meant.

I'm saying that natural selection does not really happen in industrialised countries anymore. Of course evolution happens all the time and everywhere but without natural selection it won't really go anywhere.

I think you are limiting natural selection to just fighting for survival. There are aspects of natural selection, like sexual selection etc, that most definately do apply to today. And natural selection in the conventional sense still exists. Being able to eat a triple XXL big mac cheeseburger with bacon every day without your arteries exploding gives you a higher chance of surviving. So in a sense we're not fully adapted to our diet. I do see your point though, I just don't think natural selection is gone, it just favors different things.
