Blazingmonga wrote:I think Nintendo are doing great things with the route they have chosen. I for one have become totally bored with computer consoles and games in general over the last 5 or so years. Nothing new has been brought to the table for so long that I see little point in investing in anything. If it isn't a sequel it is an upgrade. I gave up playing games on my PC long ago, and at the moment have none installed at all.

I don't consider more memory or better graphics to be any kind of innovation. I mean, what does the Xbox360 or PS3 do that the previous versions didn't do anyway? It will never end. In 5 years we will be pressured into getting an XBox 1080 and a PS4.

With the Wii (a very stupid name, I admit) at least they are offering something new. It may not appeal to everyone but for once it appeals to me. Who cares if the latest Fifa game won't be ported? There are going to be at least 3 or more other platforms to play these games on.

Should be fun.

Amen, although, if you had read my previous post, you'd know that ALL games can and will be ported, no problems there. Not that i'd miss FIFA :P. This isn't a rumour I've picked up, Reggie from Nintendo said it himself at another recent press conference.

I agree with the lack of innovation and I'm tired of "gory" FPS that do nothing new, and racing games with slightly nicer cars. The only time i've been excited in recent years was the DS, games were made fun again and still are. With the DS Lite, Nintendo will guide all the idiots who need their looks before their games and will provide some new, exciting software.

There is NO doubt about this.

Revolution was a better name, but I'm not really fussed about the name of a console, you can call it what you want anyway. I've never been a fan of Nintendo though, although I did buy a gamecube, and was very dissapointed. Not at the console it'self, it was suprisingly powerful for it's size. My dissapointment came from the lack of good games on the console. I only ever bought 2 games and that was the remake of Metal Gear Solid 1 (MGS: Twin Snakes) and ofcourse Resident Evil 4 which is a classic. Apart from them, it was all kids games which I really didn't want to play.

What they're doing with the Wii is a good idea with the controller and all, but to me it feels more like a novelty that will probably wear off at some point. Yet it is different for a console, and some good ideas can be translated into games that makes use of the unique controller. But...I don't think this console is going to be for me, can't see there being many good games on it, and the controller isn't something I'd want to use for any regular game, even with the added buttons attached to it.

As for other computers, I used to play a few games on pc, but I also have nothing installed on it these days, mainly because pc's need too much constant upgrading to keep up with the newer games, it's rediculous.

Ps2, had it since the day it came out, always been there in times of bordom and provided many many hours of entertainment over the years.

And the most recent Xbox 360, which I love, although there also seems to be a lack of really good games at the mo, but there are a lot of games being made which look and are going to be amazing. Waiting for them sucks though!. I've noticed a few of you say your not bothered about the update in graphics and stuff, and thats fair enough. But the 360 can provide a lot more than looks, as it has the technology to provide more advanced gameplay too, just as the ps3 can also. I have to admit though, my main reason for buying a 360 was the graphics first and formost, but the gameplay is just as important to me, and if there was nothing different in games apart from looks, I would have thought twice about buying the thing. I knew it had the capability of having great gameplay aswell as looks.

Plus I just have to play Gears Of War! :D ---> http://www.gamestar.hu/apix/0505/gears_of_war_6.jpg

I can't really complain too much about some consoles though, after all they give people options, not everyone will like the same thing. You just get the right one for you.

yeah man Nintendo rules, strange name but they always do that.

Nintendo will ALWAYS be in the game if they stick with their line-up, Donkey Kong, Mario, Zelda, Metroid, need I continue?? These games are always awesome!!

I always have and always be primarily a Nintendo fan.

Thing is, a lot of the classic games are moving over to Xbox and PS...

Final Fantasy, Megaman, Ninja Gaiden, etc...

I like the sound of it. Me and Nintendo are cool, have been since the days of the NES and every console since (VirtualBoy aside) has met my favor. Granted, my Xbox and PS2 have been used far more often than my Gamecube, but I couldn't see living without a modern Nintendo console. Wii is an innovative and unique name for a console, and that alone should draw in interest that Nintendo surely needs and deserves. Hopefully the goofy controller design is fixed by the time the console hits the market.

Yes but the other systems don't get the Nintendo franchise games. As long as they're always exclusive to Nintendo then they'll always be up there.

Doesn't matter to me, anything Nintendo does I can emulate on my PC, Mac, or modded Xbox.
