A Million Ways to Die in the West
Not as good as Ted, but not terrible, either.

The jokes were hit and miss (particularly the crude humor) with some of the gags feeling like they would have been more appropriate as a Family Guy cutaway. The long speeches start out funny but many overstay their welcome.

That said, there were still plenty of clever moments, a funny dance number and great cameos. The many exaggerated death scenes do their work well enough. To its credit, at no point did it feel like a retread of Blazing Saddles, nor did it try to be.

I personally found the movie excels when the drama gets serious. Liam Neeson is terrifically imposing and Seth MacFarlane shows he's not just a voice actor but someone who can hold a lead. Jokes do eventually weave their way into these scenes, with some subtle enough to work, others just feeling tacked on.

MacFarlane detractors will probably hate this movie but I thought it was a pretty decent outing.

Watched Lone Survivor, Out of the Furnace, Homeland and El dia de la bestia. All of them enjoyable but Lone Survivor stood out of course. Very, very good movie. Not glorifying in any way I thought. Very intense and touching.

I saw Gravity.

Um, did I miss something? That may have been the most over-rated movie I've ever seen.
It's castaway in space, except completely boring. I don't think I've ever cared less about how a movie ended.
There is two hours i'll never get back. :)

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

A decided improvement on Rise, both in visuals and in story, which is much richer and with characters who are just as engrossing, if not more so. The issues of trust and peace here are so fragile and well presented that while you know it's going to fall apart, you don't want it to happen. This applies not only for human against ape, but within their own respective societies.
What's also well done is that there are no real villains on either side, despite the antagonists being clear (Koba for the apes, Gary Oldman for the humans). Both are scarred and doing what they believe is right, in spite of the fact their actions result in more harm than good. Again on visuals, it's easy to forget that you're watching CG characters. It can be clear on shots of multiple creatures, though these in no way detract from the experience.
There's also plenty of humor and tenderness to be had, so it's not entirely dark and oppressive, just where it needs to be.

Highly recommended.

Sex Tape.

I've prepared a very detailed, concise, and analytical review for you all:

It sucked, don't bother.

Eden. Unpleasant topic. Made me angry and upset.

Just recently watched The Count of Monte Cristo again. (The one with Jim Caviezel and Guy Pierce.)

Verdict: it's still amazing.

Lucy.

Huh. Could've been better, but could have been a lot worse.

Actually, it was pretty lame, overall. I guess that's why they got Morgan Freeman. He allegedly makes mediocre movies better.

Apparently, no one has ever seen "Lucky number slevin". :D Oh, well.

I just watched The Amazing Spiderman 2.
Spoiler: show
My, myyy if that isn't the most predictable fridge stuffing ever. Other than that it was good. So glad new films are being made after that Tobey Maguire disaster.

Boyhood was one of the best films I've ever seen (very scarily accurate to my childhood) and Guardians of the Galaxy which was quite fun.

I've been dying to see Boyhood for months. Did it get a wide release? Because it's only playing in the arthouse theaters around here.
Not that that's a problem, but their popcorn blows, so I'd rather see it in a megaplex. Maybe if it does good business, it will get a wider release. :)

I live in New York, so we get everything. It's playing at the IFC center, but I doubt it'll get wider release until Oscar season. You should go see it.
