Life moves in circles, but time moves forward, making that circle more of a helix. No matter how quickly you converge on yourself, you will never reach any point you've been again. You will instead see it from above, unable to experience those particular circumstances through their original lens. Dissatisfied, you push forward into the unattainable, retrograde wisdom of your future self.
Just watched a video on YouTube of Devin and learned that pandemic is a song about a disease that is spread through flatulence. I think that makes me like the song even more now.

I think my brain hates me, because I find myself being more aloof and fatuous than normal as of late.
Is it so much to ask to have one week, or even one day, of normalcy without my neuroses kicking in and screwing me up?
Yeah, I know, more self-indulgent venting. Change of subject, I started reading A Game of Thrones last night, as I want to know the book before watching/finishing the first season of the show (though I watched two episodes before I decided this). Got a feeling this is going to take awhile.

Seen the latest tricks Facebook has come up with? Those obnixious "X is posting about Y" posts in your newsfeed (where Y is something/someone you've "liked") must have become old hat, as they've introduced automatically generated shit that has absolutely no connection to anything you've "liked". I've seen two so far:
and
Just guess who's absolutely thrilled...
Anyone seen good Adblock filters to get rid of these?
"Kanye West is trending. Black Entertainment Television (BET) and Russell Simmons posted about it."
and
"Miss World 2013 is trending. ASAP XV (OFFICIAL FAN PAGE) and Angel Locsin posted about it."
Just guess who's absolutely thrilled...

I grew up with a mom and two sisters who all love Jane Austen and everything that she's ever written. That means I should like it right?
No. Still hate it all.

I hope this family can keep their tigers:

I don't really have an opinion on whether they should be allowed to keep them at this point, that's a question for experts I reckon.
But raising tigers in a family with young children strikes me as grossly irresponsible and dangerous.
You can risk your own life if you like, but risking the lives of young children so that you can imagine you're some wild animal saviour is not on in my book. Tigers eat people, FFS. Just ask Roy - he was pronounced clinically dead multiple times, and can barely walk... and his tiger was just fucking around.
Sorry, I just get annoyed at shitty parenting

Fair enough. Though it probably didn't come through, I made my remark with amusement. And while it's good said tigers haven't harmed the small children, I agree the potential for them do so (even with no predatory intent) is high enough that the parents should have thought twice before allowing them to come that close.

All good! That was just my reaction to the clip itself and I'm probably a bit sensitive to people putting kids at risk these days.
I watched a documentary in netflix about this same thing, with many different families. It didn't end well for any of them. It's sad to see their pain in losing or misunderstanding her animals, but I'm agreed with you two. It's fine to admire these animals from a distance, but to take them into your home and put yourself and others in such blatant danger, it's not a good situation. Can't remember the name of the film currently.

Sometimes I wonder how much autonomy over my actions I have. Doing the dishes sucks and nothing I can do will ever change that. If I open a bag of cheetos it will not live to see the sunrise, regardless of how sick I start feeling halfway through the bag. Any tiny obstacle put in front of healthy/productive activities will greatly diminish the frequency I engage in them. My emotions affect my decisions more than my decisions affect my emotions. Hmm... Come to think of it, how close is science to figuring out what free will and consciousness actually are?

My two cents (I know nothing, I just like to ramble and philosophical posts like the above are awesome):
We're hedonistic creatures - hardwired to seek pleasurable experiences. It can be hard to break that instinct and do what is difficult or uninteresting, in the name of achieving something worthwhile (which is obviously open to interpretation, haha).
Even harder to avoid doing pleasurable things like eating cheetos (hell yeah), as your brain is being conned by all sorts o lovely substances:
Enriched Corn Meal (Corn Meal, Ferrous Sulfate, Niacin, Thiamin Monoitrate, Riboflavin, and Frolic Acid), Vegetable Oil (Contains one or more of the following: corn, soybean, or sunflower oil), Whey, Salt, Cheddar Cheese, (Cultured Milk, Salt, Enzymes). Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Maltodextrin, Disodium Phosphate, Sour Cream (Cultured Cream, Nonfat Milk), Artificial Flavor, Monosodium Glutmate, Lactic Acid, Artificial Colors (Including Yellow 6), and Citric Acid.
THERE IS NO FREE WILL, THERE IS ONLY MSG.

There was an article I read a little while back that agrees with this (almost word for word) - our hedonistic nature drives our impulses to consume sugar, caffeine, and other addictive substances because of the pleasure and stimulated sense of fulfillment that comes with such consumption; free will to abstain from that is purely a choice.
