I will admit that listening to Devlab The Hummer, Ghost, Ghost II or Ki happens a lot less than other albums, but that's only because I have to be in a specific mood to listen to those albums.

Holy shit. You stole my answer. That's me to a "T."

We are of one mind. We are I. The "we" has become the one. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.

I'm going to give you a big "settle down Beavis"

Maybe the topic title itself is a bit aggressive, but the truth is we don't necessarily all think individually that every song is as good to us as others may be

For example, I love Physicist, but I don't necessarily think it's in nearly the same class as Ocean Machine or Terria.

Just another topic to talk about Dev in, because we all love the work so much.

Usually skip over "Love Load" on the Christeen EP, not that it's bad or anything, just not really familiar with it. A couple songs off Physicist, typically the latter tracks and Ass Sordid demos 2 doesn't get much playtime. Everything else is gold!

I never skip. Just sayin'.
That said, I might just put an album on to hear a few individual songs (if I feel like hearing them exculsively), but if I listen to the album as a whole, I take the whole route. Doesn't matter if I don't like one song as much as another, they are all valid.

I second that.
I'm a ''whole-album'' kind of guy not a ''shuffle-songs-on-my-Ipod'' kind of guy therefore I don't want to break the flow of the record.
Especially Devy records. It's art you know. You gotta take it as it is. Not doing so would be like taking a famous painting cutting it in pieces and removing the parts you don't like.
I try to respect the way art is presented to me so yeah why don't I just shut myself up now ?

I have to say though that the ending of Synchestra is sort of a pain (until it reaches Notes from Africa) and the kinda happy/cheesy songs on Accelerated Evolution too.

This is pretty much how I feel. I got on the whole album-listening bandwagon after hearing Steven Wilson talk about it so much, and quite frankly, now I understand why he champions it so much. Not everyone has the time or the patience to do so, but I feel much more content/rewarded/satisfied as a listener when I finish a good album then when I do any one individual song. And, the music just makes more sense, in some unexplainable way, when heard as a whole... almost like I'm getting a more accurate picture of what the artist intended me to hear. Honestly, I can't even remember the last time I really just sat down and listened to a song or two - I just put whatever album I feel like hearing on when I can, and I just lose myself in it. Funnily enough, a lot of tracks that I considered skip-worthy before I started spinning albums actually grew on me after hearing them so many times. It's almost as if, after discovering their place in the running-order and seeing how they help to shape the album they're part of, my respect for them grows... and eventually, leads to me liking them. In most cases, that is.

...but none of that answers the topic's question though, haha. As others have said, I don't skip any tracks when listening to music - regardless of who or what I'm listening to. It's rare for me to genuinely find a song/a particular chunk of an album irritating to listen to, and even rarer in the context of something like Dev's work, but it does happen. A Simple Lullaby is just not my cup of tee (but then again, it's been ages since I've given Synchestra a listen, so maybe I need to do that?), and Humble sort of... drags Terria down for me, in a way. Everything else on the record is virtually flawless, and then Humble comes in and drags and drags and drags until the record finally putters out a few minutes later. Stagnant (seemingly) ends things on the perfect note, IMO; thus why Humble closing things out feels unnecessary and unnatural, in some ways. Other than that... Soul Driven drags, sometimes, but I can't really point to anything else in Dev's entire discography that's ever rubbed me the wrong way. That goes especially for the DTP - not even a 'good' song to be found; only great ones.

Edit: Just noticed the above conversation after posting this; got a good laugh out of it. Agreed with Octillus on:

Stop hatin', you haters! Every single note Devin makes turns into gold! :D

To be more serious: Depending on my mood, I either listen to an entire album or I listen to single songs.
And in the case of listening to the whole album, I seldomly skip songs. Maybe I skip 'Tall Latte' sometimes, but it's not actually a song. And it is not really skipping either, because there is no next song...

I find it remarkable that people skip 'Olives'. I really like that song because it sucks you right into the Terria-feel, like it should. And Devin intros are always cool!

For the record, the thread's title was purely meant to be tongue in cheek. I don't really think anyone on here is a "brown-noser" (except now with the exception of pandemic, who's nose must be almost black at this point  ).
