You guys,

I'm thinking of selling my Gibson Les Paul BFG and trading it in for a guitar with a flat neck. I'm fed up with detuning strings, noises the thing makes i don't wanna hear and the fact that it's easier to shred on an acoustic guitar. That's why I want a fast, versatile guitar with killer pickups. Musical style: 90's grunge/metal. Currently own a maverick F1 as well.

Budget: 900 euros.

Easy:

1.) Does it have a pointy headstock? if yes, go to 2.
2.) Was it built by Jackson, Ibanez, ESP or Kramer or similar? if yes go to 3.
3.) Is it black? if yes, go to 4.
4.) is it made by one of those cruddy subsidiary brands of a major guitar maker? if yes, go to 5.
5.) Can you scrape the 'LTD/ Squire (actually Fender don't enter this equation, but YKWIM)/ NJ' bit off the headstock and make it look like a real guitar?

If yes to all of the above: Buy it. If no to any: stick with a Squire strat and join the house emo band.

I'd suggest a Jackson RR5. You can get that and change from 900 Euro. You know what to spend the change on.

That's a "wandering around Times Square at 3AM' sort of question.
I get all my own meat and get drugs for free (still!). Pussy too. I spend my money on books and further education.

I have one, but it's a baritone, I guess that's not what you're after. Go to http://www.rondomusic.com/electricguitar-ss15.html, start at the highest prices. :>
The Elite and Pro models are usually neck-thru/set-neck. Don't be fooled by the price, they make amazing guitars. At least from what I've heard from everyone else who owns one.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the higher end LTD Models from ESP. Particularly the Neck Thru models.

HOWEVER, you can get similar speced Ibanez RG's (Minus the thru neck) for a 1/3 less of the price.

Some have made some good suggestions and in addition to checking out the Ibanez RG's (Their Wizard necks are amazing) it might be worth checking out the PRS Torrero SE.

Thanks everyone. I'm concidering a 7string, not ideal for drop D stuff, but i reckon if i block the floyd rose to the "down" direction i could drop it down 1 or 2 times. And I've watched some reviews. Boy those guitars sound very very good. And it's a bargain if you're paying euro's.

Hehe Nice. Do you get free cocaine with it? Billy does...

And what's the way to go on buying an ibanez not being crappy?

I bought a relatively cheap Ibanez RGR 320 EX about 4 years ago for around £300 (New) and it still plays brilliantly APART from, the blades on the Edge III bridge (a Floyd Rose knock off) are worn and it won't return to it's original position.

I'm planning on replacing it with a proper Floyd Rose and while I'm at it, I'll update the pick ups too. The stock pick ups are EMG Designed passives and are actually really good so I will keep them as spares for future projects and what not. I'm only going to replace them because I'll have the guitar stripped while updating the bridge and what not.

Basically I would suggest avoiding any of the budget models that cost any less than £300 (350 Euro) as they build quality and overall playability is not as good.

Try something like this which is within your budget range.

Alrighty than. I'm used to playing pretty fancy guitars, and my maverick F1 is a very very good RG like model, so I'm going for as cheap as 750 pounds and as much as i can get for that. I'm trying my drummer's ibanez guitar tomorrow at rehearsal, see what we'll make of that. Anyway thanks!

By the way, how's that Agile representative job working out for you? ;)
