Criminally unheard/unlistened/unloved English doom.

good song, but the rest of the album...

I'm waiting until the album release to listen, it's not that good?

(Not trying to speak for Dunkelheit!)

I've only heard a few tracks, so take my opinion with a grain of salt... BUT... Mikael's songwriting seems to have taken a hit again. And, some of the lyrics are... well, surprising, considering Heritage is an Opeth album (and that the man who wrote them is the same man who wrote the lyrics on Still Life, for example). This is entirely my opinion and I wouldn't be surprised if it changes when I hear the album in full, but I'm not so sure that they've produced another great album this time around. My issues are with mainly the quality of the music and it's composition; not the prog influences, the vintage production, or the fact that there's no growls.

I just finished listening to it (the whole thing). Your thoughts describe the whole album quite well I think. I agree that the compositions are sub-standard, as well as the production. I know it's supposed to sound vintage, but some parts are just unnecessarily muddy. Don't get me wrong, there are good parts on it but by no means can they carry the weight of the entire album.

check out 'the end of the beginning'. i think it's the best album.

I honestly think "All is violent, All is bright" is better because it is alot more upbeat. "The end of the beginning" is just too slow.

He's touring next year? .

*Takes deep breath*...YEEESSS. I am so not gonna miss this.

On another note, currently I'm listening to Mastodon. After loads of anticipation of their new record and just people telling me to listen to them. Initially, I didn't mind them at first, but nothing clicked. However, now its this massive wall of sound that hits me in this crazy way and I like it :P .

I'm starting off with Leviathan and Crack the Skye.
