Through it all, the next guitar I've been working on with them is a Tele like my old ESP.

Sorry for any confusion...it's a fun guitar, been playing it for almost 2 years, it's pretty big!

Sweet!!! I'm so fucking excited for this thing. Can't wait to form new calluses on my fingers from playing the crap out of this thing.

So, are you going to offer flaming-metal "boots" for the V through the eBay store?

Thanks, Dev!

Hopefully the tele comes out some time later. I'll start saving now. ;)

I would go for the Peavey. If you are going to get a PRS, the SE's are nice but do yourself a favour and get a good McCarty.

So it will have that single coil? I was really hoping for the version that Devin has with one pickup and no v-plate, I think both of those things make the guitar look ugly. The guitar is so metal, who needs a neck pickup anyway.

My gentlemen's sausage is in a permanently 'armed and ready' position waiting on this guitar to come out.

Never owned a V before but this thing is so sexy I cannot resist. I'm hopin' Dev gets a decent cut of the profit from the sale of these.

It doesn't officially go on sale until June, but you can most likely put in a pre-order or reserve one at any store that sells Peavey guitars.

Here's some of the places you may be able to order from:

http://www.sweetwater.com/

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/

http://www.americanmusical.com/

http://www.guitarcenter.com/

I have no idea about international orders.

In the Musikmesse videos Devin mentions that the single coil pickup will not be on the final version, but he did confirm for us that the picture in this thread is the final version, and it does still have the single coil. I bet that is something Peavey pushed. It is easier to sell a guitar if it is more functional.

I remember when Eddie Van Halen was having Ernie Ball/Music Man making his signature guitars. He wanted it to be based off of his strat-style striped guitar that only had the one humbucker. He never used the neck pickup. In fact, it wasn't even wired up. However, EB/MM insisted that he have a neck pickup, and he finally caved. They convinced him that it would appeal to more people that way, and not just rock guitarists. He's had neck pickups put on all his signature guitars since, even though he rarely (if ever) uses them.

Since then I've always wondered how close some of these "signature" guitars are to what the artist truly wanted.

I think it depends on the artist, luthier and the manufacturer. The best examples I can think of where the artists got exactly what they wanted are the Jim Root Fender sigs and the many sigs of Dimebag Darrell from Dean. Granted Dime is no longer with us, but he did draw out a lot of ideas he had for his signature line that Dean has churned out yearly. I think Jim's main concern was keeping the price point to under 1,000 and still having a specs that he could live with/wanted. So I think it comes down to how well you get along with the luthier and then being on par with what the manufacturer wants to accomplish with the guitar kinda thing.

I'm sure they would have done what Eddie wanted to go with. Maybe thats why he's so hands on with his stuff now though.

As far as the single coil pickup I can see it not being on the guitar as EMG doesn't offer a 7 string single coil currently that I know of so thats a custom order for Peavey which would drive the cost up. But then if it does come with the single coil that'll make it something even more special until EMG makes it available. :)

I wonder how one would go about making the booties though. I might have do like a mythbusters style casting of the fins to make a mold. I'm thinking anodized aluminum would look nice next to my macs. I think instead of flames, I would vines in like a celtic tribal style. :)

Apologies for the wordyness, trying to stay awake at work. It's so boring, must... stay... awake...

I was thinking about this, and it kind of ties in with the current pricing that is out there. Dev said they wanted to make the guitar around $800, but it looks like it is currently being priced at $1,199 (with an MRSP of up to $1999). That $399 difference between Dev's desired price and what is currently being listed could account for the custom pickup.

Yeah, I really like the booties. I have no idea how to go about making some. It looked like Dev's were screwed on in that video:

I'm not sure I'd want to go that far. You could use an adhesive, but over time that may be damaging, as well. I'd rather have some sort of rubber booties that just slipped on and off. I guess I can worry about that after I have the guitar. lol
