Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

You've been on an acoustic harmonic kick of late. Go to the source: Michael Hedges.

Ah I know Hedges' stuff well, Stoney m'dear.
Pretty much everything he's ever done makes the cilia in my cochlea tingle with joy. :)

Tesseract - April

The new version of this song is absolutely beautiful. The atmosphere is outstanding.

Been listening to the new Tesseract as well. Well, somewhat new, I guess. Been listening to this stuff for a while now, lol. Awesome stuff. The DVD is pretty cool. There is "Concealing Fate" played in it's entirety in the studio, and some behind-the-scenes stuff from the studio and the 2010 tour. A few appearances from Dev in there, too.

Hoping to get my pre-order in soon. Definitely want to check that DVD out. Acle gave me a little sneak peak at some new material he's working on for Tesseract, and musically(it was instrumental) it sounds like he's definitely staying true to his style, adding more layers, and grooving twice as hard as before.

Periphery - "Letter Experiment"

For a long time, I preferred listening to their instrumental self titled album rather than the original. I never really got into the clean vocals.
But after about a dozen listens, I finally understood the whole vocal approach and style to their songs.

I guess it depends on what kind of person you are and how you react to the music. Me, I jizz over their groovy guitar work and crazy syncopation :D .

BURST. I got to see them on their first, only, and last US tour(with Gojira!) and they killed it. I really like their style.

Check my stuff out then(Encircle, in my sig), no vocals, but definitely groovy. Glad people are starting to understand why Spencer is Periphery's vocalist.

Dude, thats awesome. Just from hearing Oversight I'm already drawn into this. Is it only the EP you've done so far? Either way, I love it.

My journey to find more interesting prog stuff myself has kinda dwindled. So mostly I'm taking in the recommendations people are giving me atm.

Thank you!

I'm working on a 12 track full length. It will have the 3 EP tracks re-recorded and 9 others. Oversight was a lot of fun, but stupidly hard to record some parts.

Cool. Hope it all works out for ya. I'm gonna make sure I'll be one of the first to hear it :D

I love these guys, and it's a HUGE shame they never found much of a 'mainstream' sucess within their genre in either FotN or NFD incarnations.
Nosferatu stole their thunder, but FotN/NFD are far superior imho. :P
