Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

I was listening to Sigur Ros - ...I'm not even going to try to spell this album title earlier. Thinking "I'd like to listen to Infinity after this". And my computer agreed and played me Infinity. Telepathy I tell ya!

I love it when that happens. It makes me feel my computer understands me.

...I should get out more.

Listening to Periphery with vocals for the first time. Fuck, Sotelo sucks. Too bad Eric Kalsbeek couldn't fill the part.

Also:
-Atheist - Unquestionable Presence
-Jeff Loomis - Zero Order Phase
-Alexander Scriabin - Piano Sonatas
-Sergei Rachmaninoff - Études-Tableaux
-Maybe some Dev later

Won't happen. Spencer isn't going anywhere. Misha likes his work too much. I've just listened to it enough to understand why Misha decided on Spencer. Because it wouldn't sound right with anyone else. No matter what.

Scriabin!! Fuckin' love him. KInd of a weirdo too. Prometheus killed me when I first heard it.

Rachmaninoff too...excellent choice.

I think I'm in a Stravinsky mood all of the sudden.

If it starts calling you David, get the hell out of there.

Scriabin was quite weird. Look up his plans for "Mysterium," and you'll be fully convinced that he was insane. Some of his work is really spectacular, though. Guess I've got a soft spot for Romantic-Era Russians (time for some Prokofiev, too).

Well aware that it wouldn't happen, but I'd still much prefer Kalsbeek. I'd bet there are a number of others in the world that could fill the role, as well.

Unrelated: Anyone get the new Tesseract EP? If so, how is it?

I wouldn't doubt there are plenty of capable replacements. I just dont see them kicking Spencer out or him leaving on his own.

I need to buy it, support a friend's band, but having the leaked copy for a while I can tell you it is absolutely awesome. The production could be a bit stronger, I know for a fact Acle is totally capable of producing something on level with any professional recording. The production feels a little weak at times, the guitar tone a little thin sometimes. But overall the music is top notch. Dan Tompkins is a KILLER vocalist.

This is a phenomenal find for me, because the only known video in existence of this song has always ended at 2:30 or so for unknown technical reasons.
It's low-budget, but it's a fucking beautiful song.

Lots of Pain of Salvation, old school:

So today's the 25th anniversary of the release of the NES in the United States. One of the other websites I go to had a topic on memories of youth, and one gentleman posted a link:

I heard the music, and immediately an ear-to-ear grin began to pop out.

One of the first games I ever played, and really, just sweet nostalgia for those days of youth, with my little league team, or cub scout meetings ending in dusting off the controllers for some pure fun. Y'know, when gaming wasn't so damn serious.
