i was stuck on stuck mojo, saw that he produced "pigwalk," did a little research, and found out he fronted SYL. liked the name and ordered "no sleep til bedtime." found it very entertaining, then ordered "accelerated evolution," then i was hooked!

"AE" is still my favorite.

the first time i listened to "no sleep," i was finishing a friends basement, a VERY conservative friend, he thought i was nuts! sure got me swinging my hammer though! :furious: lol!

Random Analysis when I was 14. Instantly got as much as I could by him, as well as Alien; Alien was my favorite work of Devy for at least a year, while Terria slowly began to replace it. Now? I love it all and know every solo song of his by heart. Can't wait to increase upon that catalog.

Heard Anti-Product in a Metal Hammer compilation CD when I was about 15 or so, heard it and thought 'It's ok but it's pretty repetitive' then last year I saw the video for Love, checked out a couple of SYL reviews for a good starting point, and downloaded City. The first two or three times I listened to it, it didn't really click, then on a train ride home from college one night I decided to throw it on for the hell of it, and I finally 'got' it.

I had heard a couple Addicted! songs on his myspace, payed no attention. Went to a Between the Buried and Me show and DTP was supporting. I was still kinda "wtf this guy is weird"..then all of a sudden I just started listening to Addicted more and just worked my way backwards as well as SYL. He's now my favorite musician evarrrr.

Started with checking him out after hearing the guy in Ayreon's The Human Equation. I got Synchestra and SYL's Alien. First impressions with SYL was, "This is just all round crazy stuff...but I like it :D ". But it was his solo stuff that really struck me. Still love SYL but, from the first time I heard Triumph, I was hooked so quickly. That song still hasn't lost its energy to me. It was really its deep lyrics and soulful guitarwork that drew me.

I was 18 and downloaded "Devour" from the SYL album from some website in 03. Instantly loved it
and bought SYL and Accelerated Evolution. The moment Storm segues into Random Analysis I stopped
everything I was doing, got up from my couch and just shouted "Oh my GOD!" and was forever hooked.

I think I saw the Relentless music video in 2004 or so. Watched it again about a year later and liked it, downloaded some more SYL songs and was very impressed, bought Alien and City and was equally blown away by both in different ways.
I heard people talking about his solo stuff and got into that too, I loved Synchestra when it came out so much (and still do!)
Now, I own everything he's ever done and he's probably my favourite musician ever...!

I was a huge fan of Steve Vai's back in the 80's and 90's, so when the 'Vai' CD came out, I bought it as soon as it was released. I had never heard anyone with that kind of vocal versatility and passion sing before. I completely ignored the guitar on the CD and just focused on the voice. I've often wondered if even Dev knew he could sing like that before the 'Vai' album. I have a feeling Steve Vai pushed Dev a bit further than he probably thought possible. That album is still a vocal masterpiece.

Became an instant fan, and was there up until after 'City,' then my life took a shit and music all but vanished from it. I was in a very dark place for a while. However, I am in a much better place, I have rediscovered music and Dev, so life is great!

My boyfriend put me onto Ziltoid, and I was like, yeah this is pretty cool. I really liked it for what it was musically, but it took awhile to get past the whole crazy concept. I was aware of Dev's other work but once I started listening to it, Ziltoid made more sense. Then the whole thing sort of evolved from there really. Lately, I've listened to barely anything else for the past two or three months. I suppose it's a sort of phase, which is strange to me since I started getting into Dev a long time ago. Plus, I've never had a phase this long. Part of me hopes it's not a phase.

Either way, even if it was Dev is and will remain my favourite artist. I think he gives a lot through his music and offers things other artists don't.

I first heard Wrong Side, after being directed from a Nile video.
I thought: "yeah, cool" then thought nothing of it.

I bought Human Equation and liked his music, then downloaded You Suck and Satan's Ice Cream Truck.
I then heard Earth Day and thought: "This is fucking incredible".

After being diagnosed with Bipolar last year, I fell in love.
