Slayer has musically never been in the same league as Devin. They could be thankful to open for him. I never understood the hype about Slayer (cool bandname, though). But i know, off topic. :-)

neither do i....Slayer is so repetitive and boring...and their solos...i don't understand why kerry king is so famous

I agree uberhard with the solos thing. They ruin every Slayer song I've tried to listen to for me. Especially Silent Scream.

I always felt Hanneman was a superior guitarist to King. Which made the respect King gets even harder to swallow.
I remember hearing Show No Mercy for the first time was the final turn off point for myself and Slayer.
So many riffs lifted from other bands around the year or two before it's release. I remember hearing about 10 riffs just from Kill 'em All and Ride the Lightning alone.

That and the fact that there's just no point listening to a new Slayer album, you've basically already heard it.

Wow. As an American, it is impossible for me to fathom missing anything for a soccer match, much less a Devin show.

You crazy Euros and your soccer :P

On a related note, I noticed that Devin is one of the opening acts for Slayer at Hellfest. How cool is that?!? Now Devin can say he opened for Slayer!

I agree 300% with you aboot soccer. I'm European and soccer sucks imo.
And, dude, Slayer should be opening for Dev. This man has so much more talent than them

Slayer is Slayer and they are in my mind awesome. I don't see much value in comparing them to Dev nor being disgruntled that he's opening for them and not vice versa. I would however agree that their stuff hasn't changed too much over the years and whilst i do go see them when they come to town, i don't really rush out to grab their new releases.
Dev and Slayer are chalk and cheese and there is room for both in the world regardless of the obvious perceived differences and or shortcomings of one particular party.

A tin can rolling down the street has musical merit to me, its about how much it moves you. And re Dev opening for Slayer, yes, you are correct, it was a festival and they were the headline on that night.

I don't think there is such a thing as "opening" for other bands on a festival anyway. Sure he may be playing the same stage before them, but that means nothing on a festival. He's not their support act or anything.

I just shat my pants at Dev belting out the Supercrush verses, and damn near cried at the perfection and beauty of Anneke's Hyperdrive performance. There are quite a few very nice video/audio quality vids on popping up on youtube, which is a nice change from the american/austrailian tours where it seemed everyone who thought to record brought their worst gear for the job. I look forward to even more, Keep it up Euros!
