Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

'Future Proof' off 100th Window was the undoubted highlight. 'Atlas Air' and 'Mezzanine' were stunning as well.

Jealous. 100th Window is one my favourite albums and I bet was stunningly evil live.

Saw Kong last night. Boy are those guys crazy :P All wearing a red T-shirt, inside out. Wearing plastic transparent masks, singer in red tights and the bass player in his underpants... I thought they were Lars and Sab for a while!

Anyway, show was great, and they left the stage in a pretty funny way. Bassist and singer started taking apart the drum kit while the drummer kept playing whatever was left of it. Gotta love the man too, he's the drummer for Oceansize.

Turnout was a bit sad though, there were only 3 people for the support act (2 of them friends of the band, me being the other) but they played well nevertheless. I think there were about 8 spectators for Kong :(

actually, it was me and Sab...I wanted to be totally nude first, my entire body painted red but Sab does not want anyone but himself to see my wiener

So Krimh is filling Vitek's shoes pretty well huh?

i saw Peter Gabriel and the New Blood Orchestra.

it was bloody amazing. he played the whole of his new album "Scratch My Back" first which worked extremley well on an emotional and artistic level but after my body is a cage it falters slightly. he then did a set of classics rearranged for the orchestra with a few cheeky b sides thrown in. no sledgehammer or tony levin but signal to noise and don't give up more than made up for it.

Signal to Noise!!! Goodness gracious me, that would have been incredible!!!

Sucks that Tony wasn't there tho, marks his first time to ever not be on a Peter Gabriel tour.

Yes, he did astoundingly well. Played everything fucking immaculately and looked immensely pleased to be there the whole time too. I was waiting for the drum solo in 'Day 69' to see what he'd do and he stuck faithfully to what Vitek played, didn't change a single hit. I'll be interested to hear how he does on the new record (they're apparently releasing a newie before the end of the year) but as far as live performance goes he's perfect.

Well just from the few songs I've seen/heard Krimh write himself, the guy has an insane amount of talent. I'm also anxious to hear new Decapitated, should be good.

Dropkick Murphys last night. Insanity is the only word I could use to sum it up... Band were awesome, setlist was awesome, crowd was awesome. Pit was MENTAL. I'm battered, bruised, think I've re-injured an old calf problem, my shoes have been pwned and the shirt I was wearing is covered in somebody elses blood... Utterly fucking mad.

Ulver. It was... different. And interesting. Not enough Shadow of the Sun though. Opener was a dude who rocked the fuck out with his acoustic guitar, it was awesome. And apparently he played a song from year 1640. Bad photo quality... couldn't use flash. See if you can spot Garm in the last photo. Luls.

Porcupine Tree and Bigelf

Ok, so when did 70's prog make a come back? I'm all for Opeth's use of 70's prog elements in their songs because they dont stick just around that...also Mikael can actually sing.

The bassist of Bigelf was wearing bell bottoms, I was pretty surprised by that. I do give the singer props for playing the fuck out of his keyboards/Hammond on stage as well as singing. Though I really didn't care for the band over all.

Porcupine Tree blew me away again. Still have yet to see another band that is as perfect as they are live. The only band that comes close is, believe it or not, Opeth (and Dev on the BTBAM tour, that was killer) The Incident is incredible live, along with their mix of older tracks. The biggest turn off for the show was the fact that the majority of the people in the crowd were probably 40+ and balding/graying.

Too much to say about the show, I'll stop.

Nothing wrong with the 40+ balding old guys at a P-Tree show, sir. My Dad got me into them, and we've seen them live 3 times together, generally a good mix. Him being an old Prog fan, I know they are a good progression of what was going on back then, hence the very mixed fan base. Sure it means less mosh pits, but is that really a bad thing? :)
