...so this is why i'm saying it's gotta come direct from Dev, cuz he's the dude with the multitracks who can do such a thing.

My thoughts exactly, I'd always wondered that about Dev's albums. I reckon it could be fantastic if done RIGHT, but something like that could screw up the whole thing. Plus Dev's always seemed very digital to me, until Ki =D Playing something like Infinity on vinyl would be like trying to shove a 12" into a CD drive XD
I'll buy it anyway though!

Awesome I can't wait, I still have a turntable my uncle gave me from like 1979. I think the last album it played was pink floyds dark side of the moon, Ocean machine will be next. I think vinyl still sounds better than anything out there, I might need a new needle though.

I second that ! OM is my favorite album EVER ! And it's been blessed by Devin after the Montreal Gig !
He signed my City and OM :) and I already had Infinity autographed. I now have the holy trinity blessed by divine townsend.

.... Just had a flash...
Terria artwork... Vinyl size... Wicked... GOTTA GET THAT !

Once they figured out they were sucking, they must've switched to Bernie Grundman for the pressing of The Black Album and the results show.

I'm not doubting you... I was so pissed at the sound of Ride the Lightning, I've never even examined the packaging. Is there something other than an ebay auction that ties these shitty records to MFSL? I can't find any mention on thier site, in fact, looking at the past OOP lists, I can't even see the Gold CD's that I know I sold when I worked at a record store.

Check the stickers on the packaging anywhere, KEA thru AJFA of the reissues were MFSL. Only Black Album was Bernie Grundman.

This had me curious, if Devin could answer this, do you still have all the mixes for your past albums saved? When do you decide you won't need the individual tracks anymore--if ever? Or do you just have master copies of the final mixes saved?

Is City ever getting a vinyl release? Considering it's SYL's best AND Century Media love re-releasing stuff I'd figure it was a no-brainer.

Also, I'd love to see Punky Bruster get a vinyl release.

I might just get my favourite albums on vinyl.

Ocean Machine
Synchestra
Ki
Addicted

I try to collect either the CD or the LP. Never both but there are some exceptions of course! The only other artist I have both all CDs and vinyl LPs of is Björk.

i find it safe to assume Dev keeps everything as is (i.e. full sessions as recorded with Pro Tools or what-have-you), plus the final mixes, and probably the final masters too, if only as archived CDs.

the only possible problem i see with this is that it's possible the older stuff (pre-Infinity, methinks) was probably recorded to tape. unless Dev was already working with Pro Tools in 1995-7 (to encompass all of his first forays into his own music — HAARHT, Punky, and OM), those multitracks are only on tape.

however, since Dev's the kind of guy who seems like he'd be on top of this sort of thing, it's possible he's already recorded every tape to a master Pro Tools session in the ensuing advent of Pro Tools industry domination.

Judging by the Kingdom footage from the recent tour, he does. At the very least, he would have a sample bank for live purposes. When SYL would play In the Rainy Season etc, all the b/u vox and samples were present. Truth/Om from the latest tour as well...

I have to get me some of these. Listening to vinyl is such a different experience.

First I'll just have to buy a record player. Any recommendations? People say Technics and Pioneer are good, but I have no idea.

Has anyone heard anything new?

Dev?

My money is waiting to be spent.

It is safe to assume that if it isn't in this thread, no-one knows.
