Got my mind blown away. The place was packed and I was standing in the back even with showing up a few hours early. After waiting awhile all the sudden he walked in the door nondescriptly and happened to walk straight up to where I was and just stood there for a second. I turned around and thanked him for doing the show and coming to our area. He was really thrilled to be here and chatted with me for few minutes about stuff like the traffic in Vancouver from the Olympics, passport worries, how much he loves doing these small acoustic shows and a little about this past few years' process of changing his life around.
I was super stoked just to see him play. I wasn't expecting to actually get to chat with him one on one. He's a superb fella, the most down to Earth I've ever met.
His set was amazing. Coast and Ki were absolutely captivating and other-worldly. Radial Highway has a little slide guitar thrown in.
Got to thank him afterward again during his meet and greet. Said he's thrilled to be doing what he's doing. I asked when his next garage sale is because I need a toaster. He made $26 at his last one and won't be doing that again. It was an absolutely amazing experience. Go if you can when does another, absolutely go.
Oh yeah, he mentioned the October tour getting set up. He thinks Seattle will be the first show. Also mentioned how he'd been recording shows so hopefully something will come of it.
It was surreal to be able to tell my favorite and most inspirational musician whose music I've listened to nearly everyday for years and years and helped shape my guitar playing how much it means to me and changed my life. I'm so grateful.
