Yeah. I love sushi all the time, but I need to get to the UK in 2011 or 2012. I'd prefer 2011, so I can go to the olympics in 2012 in London. The point is, the Japanese just don't "get" fish and chips. Neither do American eateries, it would seem. *forlorn*

You can get great fish 'n chips in Seattle. Plenty of fresh seafood restaurants and eateries right on the piers.

Oh, wait, I DID have fish and chips! But, I didn't like it very much. Probably shouldn't have eaten at BJs.

Show me a photograph of 'great fish n' chips' from an eatery anywhere in America and I will believe you (although will suspect a Brit in the kitchen).

The American approach to frying potatoes is fundamentally different to the British way. Likewise making batter. Not better or worse, just different. Same with the French and Japanese. Perfectly well suited to steak and fries or vegetable tempura or many many dishes, just not working with fish & chips.

This is more like the white pudding supper I had.. minus the HP sauce and the cardboard box. There's no meat as such, in the white pudding, just beef suet, oatmeal and onion plus some pepper/spices. Coated in batter and deep fried. You'd be better just REPLACEing it straight into your aorta rather than eating it. Definitely not something you want to eat too often. :D

There was a special news bulletin on TV yesterday, about a power blackout somewhere in the country. I wonder what they were trying to achieve there. It's not like the people in the blackout didn't know it already, or like they could actually watch the news bulletin to see how it's coming along or when it's going to be fixed :?
