A custom compilation, "Mega.Motorik.Mixture", based around various incarnations of that classic driving Krautrock beat. I'd love to hear Dev do a big slab of motorik groove one day - it's a great head-trip and as uplifting as you want it to be. My comp takes the three timeless NEU! classics from the 70's, moves onto Stereolab who (let's face it) ripped those off and then onto the remixes of those tracks being spun out in head-messing regions of space by the NWW crew. Classic stuff all told.

NEU! - Hallogallo (10.07)
NEU! - Für Immer (11.17)
NEU! - Isi (5.06)
Stereolab - Jenny Ondioline (18.07)
Stereolab - The Long Hair Of Death (4.46)
Stereolab & Nurse With Wound - Simple Headphone Mind (10.36)
Stereolab & Nurse With Wound - Trippin' With The Birds (21.04)
Stereolab & Nurse With Wound - Exploding Head Movie (4.47)
Stereolab & Nurse With Wound - Animal Or Vegetable (A Wonderful Wooden Reason) (13.34)

Wow, I knew Neu! based ton of stuff on the same beat, but didn't know it has its own name. Nice bit of trivia.

Yeah, it started with Mo Tucker from the Velvets but really kicked off with Klaus Dinger from NEU! in '71 on "Hallogallo" - still the daddy of that style. He never used the term "Motorik" himself, but got saddled with it when everybody else did!

It's even in a section of Kraftwerk's "Autobahn" like a little tribute to him - it's surprising how often it still pops up these days.
