The layering shit is quite impressing... How the hell does someone have the patience to work through all that in 10 songs?

That was face melting, man! It's amazing how weird some of the smaller ingedredients to the mix are. And you say Deconstruction is gonna be more complex than that? Sheesh, you've got like +10 on patience!

Please do more of this, it's absolutely enlightening!

Much appreciated. I'll try and get this video played in class. The vocals soloed in the dissonant section sounds really cool. Your session looks so tidy. ha
As someone mentioned earlier, I'd love to know how many of these sounds are happy accidents and how many are preconceived.
Thanks again. Sound as a pound.

Oh yeah, this tickled the fancy of the production nerd in me.

Computer Music special Devin edition coming up? haha.

You must be super patient to use different DAWs for different things. That would drive me nuts hopping between programs, importing / exporting...

Can someone import some of the Addicted tracks into Audacity or something so we can see the dynamic range of the tracks? I'm curious to see if they are dynamic or if they fall into the current trend of super compressed and too loud. With all of those layers I think it would be nearly impossible to not have over-compression and really loud levels. I can't believe Supercrush wasn't clipping in that video!

Audacity is free and open source, so you can do it yourself!

Proof once again that pre-production and preparation are so damn important. The number of sessions I've done on short time with no pre-production and having to do it on the fly is horrible to think about. Tracking like that is nigh on impossible if you have musicians just throwing darts in the dark for upping the basic tracks production with only a week booked. Next time I get one who complains about the out-come from a session like that, I'll show them this. :D

Very much appreciated Devin! I love this stuff, and I'm lucky enough to work with it too.

You've probably already done it yourself using Biert's link to Audacity, but the tracks are surprisingly dynamic. I was expecting to see much more brickwalling when I cut off the small silences on the leaked mp3's to burn to a CD for use in the car. If I compare it to Infinity, that one is much less dynamic (by this definition).

On a side note, that video deconstructing Supercrush is amazing. Also love how Dev goes "oh what's this here? what else did I put in here?", makes you wonder how much of all the background is really pre-conceived. I guess a lot of it just develops during editing. :)

I actually thought of posting that yesterday, but I was tired. Well done, Biert.

You're full of lame excuses.
