Layering gives Devin's music longevity. You hear something new every time you return to the music and the songs never get old. This is what makes his music special and always feel fresh. It'd be cool to hear a song deconstructed in a youtube vid or a production vid or something.(if he's got time/in the mood) Addicted is the first album I've listened two twice in one day in years! I'm never usually surprised by an album on the second listen and can usually formulate an opinion very early on but I couldn't possibly take in Addicted properly on my first listen. The sign of a great album is that it keeps getting better and better over time. I'm doing a production course at the moment and am currently trying to decide what song to play in class
Discuss cool layering in songs!

I love the layering that dev does on addicted, it just makes the song sound gigantic!

Especially the title track, that last chorus just blew me away when i first heard it.

I wud like to know like what VSTs hes using to create that huge mountain

If you want a break-down of a song, have a look (listen) at Morwar. It's on one of the Ass Sordid albums and it's War without the guitars. So much crazy shit going on!

The middle sections in The Fluke and Hide Nowhere spring to mind.

Man!!! A true sign of genius is when you aren't afraid to let ppl in by not keeping secrets and helping every one advance. Who would have thought that some of those sounds would be in the song...

That is the one thing I've been waiting for all year, to know how the master of production produces.

As for examples of layering, Truth is the best in my opinion. Or Earth Day.
The number of synths of Truth is incredible, combined with the Dev-choir, guitar and amazing kick drum.

Could you possibly break down Truth for us? :)
