Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

Is that the new Paradise Lost? If so how is it?

NP: The Fall of Troy - In The Unlikely Event

Brand new, turning out to be my favorite FoT album.

Yeah, been listening to that some, also. I definitely wouldn't put it above Phantom on the Horizon or Doppelgänger, but it beats Manipulator after the first couple listens. The vocals are still absolutely abysmal (even worse than usual, actually), and there's a lot of digitized nonsense, but other than that, it's got some pretty excellent bits.

Physicist actually...

I think I finally get it. At least half the songs are actually pretty damn brilliant, when before I was only a fan of Namaste and Planet Rain.

New Paradise Lost.
One of my all time favourite bands.
They really haven't disappointed me ever. Even during the Host era stuff.

New stuff is heavy, pretty epic sounding. Nick Holmes sounds pissed off.
Good shout on the Draconian Times comparison.

Edit: Just gotta say the title track is brilliant.

It actually sounds like he's not doing all the vocals. Sounds like they brought others in to do guest vocals on almost every track. Musically though, I love it.

Like Erak's jazz-singer girlfriend (who actually has a good voice and can sing well) in the background? Or the "new" bassist's atrocious vomit-yelling? Or that dude from Protest the Hero? I don't know; aside from Erak's girlfriend, none of the vocals on the album do it for me. That's typical of them, though. And of course, there's the fact that all the lyrics are written by the angsty 15-year-old buried somewhere inside Erak.

As usual, I've got mixed feelings about the album. Some of it is really good, and other parts are shit. Eh.

After a full listen I have to agree. It seems the album takes a dive after the first 5 or so tracks with a few decent ones spread in afterward.

NP: Baroness - The Blue Record

Highly, highly recommend this album to everyone.
