Hey all i have a Line 6 Tone port UX1, i want to be able to record with it but it doesnt seem to do anything when i click record... I think i need another program. Does anyone know anything about this so i can download one. Also i would like to know how to go about downloading and using drumkit from hell. Thanks guys

Recording software, you say. Get yourself a Reaper. It's full-on digital audio workstation in 3.5 megs installer. It's also, essentially free (it's "demo" but without ANY limitations except of little annoying nag screen - I payed them, because it's nice, though ). There's big ass manual there and also some example projects.

Drumkit From Hell works as a VST instrument, after proper installation it will be available as "instrument" for Reaper. As for downloading, well it's on any bigger torrent site I guess. Or on a store shelf .

You should have toneport set as your audio device (options ->preferences- >audio/device in Reaper). Probably it's already visible for Reaper. If you want to record something, then press Ctrl+T (new track appears), then click on R button to arm track for recording, click that speaker icon down there in the mixer to hear what you're doing then click red record button in the middle of the screen. In case something's still doesn't work right click on the R icon on track and try to fiddle with input sources (there's stereo & mono input submenu there with input devices to choose).


I've never used toneport, but I'm guessing it works just like any audio interface, so things I wrote should make some sense

I would recommend Adobe Audition.

I really like ableton live - a cut down version came free with my soundcard. Powerful and relatively simple to use
depending on what you're trying to achieve fruity loops can be good too.

if you have a mac garage band is very easy to use.

cubase is great, but can be a steep learning curve.... good luck

Toneport UX1 comes with Ableton live lite, and the built in Line6 recording thing (not great).

I use PodFarm with a Gearbox Plugin inside of ProTools(host) and love it. I also use DFH with EZDrummer 2.0 you can get it from www.toontrack.com

I got reaper and downloaded DFH although i cant seem to get it to run through reaper so disapointed with that. Finding it hard to get any really good tones out of the toneport:S probably because im just crap at stuff like that! It comes with ableton?

Are you using PODFarm with your toneport? If so, there are some absolutely great presets you can tweak up in there. As mentioned before, for a metal sound try the Treadplate Dual model with a Tube Screamer in front of it, tweak to taste. I haven't used Reaper, but looking on their user forums it looks like EZDrummer should be compatible with it running as a VST plug-in. What kind of errors are you getting?

Sonar is good, I used it for a while...

Until I expanded my "studio" and started using Pro Tools LE 8 (A fully legit version too, came free with my Mbox2 )
