haha yeah that's where i got it. Very much worth it though. The people who made it also had The Mighty Boosh designs for the shirts (for anybody who actually knows what the Mighty Boosh is).

Too bad that I have only ZERO EURO to spend on a new one, but hey..

Oh no! What sucks about it? Just doesn't sound right, feel right? Sorry to hear that :chain:

Yeah, I am bummed too, but I will survive.. I think if I push myself, I can continue to practice with this one until I feel that I deserve a real playmate :D  (sigh, my jokes just get worse by the day..)

Hey, it's like play and mate, and that is like my "mate" when I "play"!

I learned two Linkin Parks and "Twinkle twinkle little star" today! :D
I don't need me papehrs toh playh themh todaih!
Maybe I will forget them by tomorrow :D
It is really cool how your fingers just find the right place when you think "Oh yeah, I wanna play Sepultura - Territory"!
It's bestest to be a human!

^^ Hey cool!! It sucks that you don't like the bass, but as long as you learn to play stuff, who cares right?!

The most important thing is to have fun playing. 8) I'd say it'd be cool if you picked up some SYL or DTB songs, if they didn't require a 5 string bass...and Devin didn't use really wonky tuning; I personally don't really like tuning a 4 string below drop-C at the very most. Drop-D is fine though.

I remember the first song I learned how to play... was .3 by Porcupine Tree; just about a year ago now. Very easy song, but it grooves so hard. Image

I don't know how it is with other instruments, but it seems like with bass, one excels really fast and then kind of plateaus (for a while). Then from there, it's a little bit more of an uphill climb. But in a good way - working on it is challenging but rewarding.

Random thought - found this and LOL'd. Really!

I still think "It's Torn Away" by Veil of Maya is one of the best straight up metal songs I've ever heard.

God that is so true, I bought that DVD thinking it would be useful but after ten minutes I wanted to quit guitar.

LOL yeah I have the DVD as well. That fool is just in a league of his own - he is a great guitar player but fails at teaching!

This version of Rock Discipline is a little more accurate:

He is in fact a great guitarist...but he fails royally at being a musician. The only Dream Theater song I've ever listened to that I can say I like is "As I Am". I'm sure I would dig the music in others, but I just cannot stand their singer at all. The guy is such a pretentious douche its not even funny. The Prog Nation tour almost sickened me. Their intro made them seem like you were about to see the greatest band ever assembled in the history of mankind. I managed to stay through 2 songs then bailed because it got boring.

And anyways the best members of Dream Theater are Mike Portnoy and Jordan Rudess...

Are you serious, your favorite members are Mike and Jordan? Dude, Mike can easily be blamed for the fall of the band, and Jordan is terrible at soloing, at least on DT albums. Dream Theater used to be amazing, but then they found out that they could just write shitty music in a month, record it, and then tour and make lots of money. Their old material is amazing, some of the best Prog Metal out there, but their new stuff is hastily written and fails on all levels. Oh, and James sucks nowadays because Mike Portnoy is his vocal coach, which makes zero sense. James dosen't even write any vocal melodies anymore, they won't let him. Listen to this, and tell me he sounds like crap on it:

That is good, classic Dream Theater, back when they gave a shit.

Playing complex music just because you can does not make you a good musician or songwriter, ask Mikael Akerfeldt or Steven Wilson.

Yea because he hired some shitty shredder who belongs in bands like Arch Enemy.

I'm the best pick for a replacement for Peter Lindgren in Opeth..without a doubt. :P
