Mmmmm Lopez. I'll probably be able to recognize Axe as well after they give out a new album. He's my new favourite drummer, simply amazed by his performance on Watershed.

If you develop an ear for sounds that are musical it is like developing an ego. You begin to refuse sounds that are not musical and that way cut yourself off from a good deal of experience. - John Cage

And Amber, that shirt design is kinda just a little too girly for me, I prefer my band shirts to be manly and/or criptic.
Steven's solo album is kinda like Porcupine Tree, at least from what I've heard. but it's supposed to also have some weird drone parts and other stuff like that.
Yeah I'm a girl fool! Check the What-do-you-guys-look-like-thread

^^ don't mind my ugly ass hand.
Drone parts? Ooh, that sounds kind of cool, but only because SW is doing it, and I'm sure he'll do it right.
Biert wrote:Yeah how is an SW solo album going to be different from a PT album if it has 2 PT musicians (besides SW) on it?
Can't say I understand the whole SW hype anyway really. The man has written a fine tune or two but not many more.
I'll give this a try anyway.
I hope you give it a try - the man's a true genius IMO. Not a huge Porcupine Tree fan I guess?
AlucardXIX wrote:It does have some droney parts which makes it different than PT's stuff. The songs dont have the heavier bits the more recent PT albums have either.
Ooh... really? That's awesome - I can't imagine it will be wildly, freakishly different from early PT material... maybe like Voyage 34, or Metanoia or something? Is it that kind of spaced-out drone-ness?
AlucardXIX wrote:Wilson honestly produces albums better than most people out there. He and Devin seem to be 2 of the best producers out there. His vocal melodies are incredible, the textures his music has are incredible. He's like a more mellow version of Dev if you want to put it that way.
Yes. Yes. And more yes. His talent is unlimited - I think if Opeth trusts him to produce their work, then he's doing something right. I tend to think of him as a more mellow version of Dev, definitely.

And neato? I haven;t heard that word in ages. it rocks haha! I took up calling people Plebs recently
I suppose I could draw up some designs and such, but I wouldn't know how to get them to him, and also, I probably wouldn't have the guts![]()
And Phase - anything fills you with rage. xD
I'm not kidding. And I say things like "neato," "score," and wowzers," FAR too often.

How could I forget him?! He's freaking one of a kind. And let me add Peter Wildoer to the list of recognizable drummers.
Hell is waiting outside beyond these walls. It won’t save your soul to panic at this point.

Listing to Steven's solo album now...it's different...
My favourite drummer is Animal from the Muppets.

Didn't know you had a thing for hairy animals that like to bang things. Duly noted.

I'm indeed not a fan. I've heard some PT, though. I even have In Absentia (which is utterly sleep-inducingly boring if you ask me) and Fear Of A Blank Planet, which is quite OK.
They played Pinkpop festival this spring, and I went to see them for 2 songs, then I got bored and went to Alter Bridge instead.
I love what he did with Blackwater Park though.

That's ok. I was just wondering, I realize not everyone likes the same things, as that would be pretty boring. But I do applaud you for at least giving them a chance - I can't say I do the same all the time.
Some people just can't get past the doofy name Porcupine Tree
