Wilson's hair watches his voice. Too girly to be metal.

Who knew that Steven Wilson's hair had eyes! :P But I would classify Porcupine Tree as metal, because once you've gone metal, for no other genres will one settle.</lame>

I wouldnt classify them as metal. More of a Progressive rock band with metal influences.

Nope, I didn't meet any people like that, but there were some cool people there of who I did see. Funny you should mention Jesus, because when I left class to go to the rally, my professor actually told me that if I couldn't get in, I should just randomly dress up like Jesus and try to get on the news. I was lucky I made it in, because I was short a robe, water/wine, and a girl to play Mary Magdeline.

Prog rock/prog metal/prog industrial/Rush-meets-Opeth kinda vibe plus whatever else you could throw into the mix. I only have two of their albums (Deadwing and Fear of a Blank Planet) and they are pretty heavy (esp. Fear of...), so perhaps that sways my view a bit.

Ah yea, you need to delve into their back catalog to really get a feel for their proggy side. Stuff like "The Sky Moves Sideways", "Stupid Dream", "Signify". All good shit

PT's music is really alot of genres mixed, depends what album you're listening to. The earliest were more psychedelic, synth and stuff, then a bit electronic, now they have a lot of metal influence in their music, I'm guessing it comes from Steven working with Opeth alot after 2001.

So I typoed! Big deal! :P

And I totally agree, PT are not very metal at all. But Nathan is ;)

And I'm not surprised that SW likes Meshuggah. Both are equally yawn-worthy and sleep-inducing :P

I think you can hear some influences. Or is it just me.

I am very excited about this one. I am sure I am not the only one either. Was dissapointed to read on http://www.insurgentes.org that the super edition has sold out already. Doh!

I posted something about it weeks ago in the "future releases" thread (or whatever that thread's name is)

Very anxious for that.
