Been gone a week or more to have surgery on my knee.
What a strange experience.

 <- me getting an epidural.

Gotta love fentanyl!

Welcome back. I sympathise with you over the epidural experience I've had two and still remember the yucky sick feeling of that needle sliding into my spine...WAAAAAAAAAAH! :(

Nah, I wish.

Arthritis, unfortunately. Both knees.
I just had an arthroscope - meniscectomy and lavage to remove all the floaty bits of cartilage inside the right knee. Gotta get the left one done in the future.

And Keeker - it took the anaesthetist FIVE attempts to drill properly.
It was well odd - not feeling anything below my ribcage...must be what certain types of paraplegia are like.
I was :damage: for a couple of days, but I seem to be healing well and can limp around on my own now! It won't cure anything in the long term, but hopefully my daily pain levels will drop somewhat.

Don't get old, people.

Is this what the ol' "Live fast, die young" sounds nowadays...

Seriously: Unfortunately, as much as arthritis is something one normally connects with "older" people, I had to learn that there are exceptions and that it can even happen to people who are in their twenties.

Just the thought of such a diagnosis... Damn.

Any other treatments, Dave? Is some form of physiotherapy still an option, after you fully recovered from the arthroscope? Anyway, although I know that there is no real "cure", let me say: get well soon!

That sucks. I can connect to what Chris said, some things usually associated with "older" people happen to younger ones. For example, I'm 27 year old and already bitter twunt *).

Anyways, get well man. Pain is generally way overrated and shit.

*) Damn you, profanity filter

I'll eventually need both of my knees replaced with robotic implants :P but that is a decade or so away. Until then I've just gotta make sure I keep exercising and keep the muscles around my knees strong, and my weight down.

Perhaps I can get a few tips on knee care from Mr. Hoglan when I see him in Melbourne in a couple of weeks with Unearth?

Anyway, enough about my decrepitude, here's something random:

'Porn pizza' delivers sex to dinner table

July 4, 2007 - 6:27AM

A new pizza restaurant in western Canada that delivers pornography with every pie has once again proven the adage: sex sells.

Porno Pizza in Winnipeg has been doing brisk business since opening last week, titillating the hungry with racy pictures at the bottom of every pizza box.

"They range from softly-lit, lube-on-the-lens pictures like in Playboy, to raunchy, hardcore photos that would make (porn publisher) Larry Flynt blush," pizzeria owner Corey Wildeman said.

"The image is revealed as you eat the pizza."

The "ultra erotic" marketing gimmick has attracted "scowls" from some observers, "hooting and hollering" from others and at least one "drive-by flashing" of breasts, he said.

"We live in a society that is so steeped in porn that people have it delivered to the dinner table," Roz Prober of child advocacy group Beyond Borders lamented in the Winnipeg Free Press.

Indeed, Wildeman, 30, is already in talks with potential partners to open franchises across Canada after selling hundreds of pizzas in one week.

"You'll never go broke appealing to the lowest common denominator," he explained. "Everyone knows - sex sells."

Wildeman said he came up with the idea for the naughty pizzeria while talking with friends about classic porn flicks in which "pizza delivery guys meet lonely ladies and deliver more than just pizza".

Unexpectedly, more than 75 per cent of his customers turned out to be women, he noted.

Soon I hope to announce a few interesting things that YOU can help me with. Anyone interested?

Hope everyone is cool and smells of mangoes.
