Yup. Drop shadow was made by copying layer with kitten (only kitten was opaque here), selecting it all, floodfilling selection with black and using gaussian blur on it. Then stick it behind the proper kitten layer, shift it a bit and voila, you have a shadow. Outlining is available in selection editor, there's option "paint along the selection outline". Of course areas of single colour are easily selectable with fuzzy selection tool (or something like that, looks like a wand).

Probably there are simpler ways to do it, but I'm an image editing noob - I'm tring to learn myself something useful to make my tiny page with photos (forever under construction:)).
