cool creature, but it's also funny to see how the americans (i just guess it's from the usa) make documentaries about animals: REPLACE a pistol sound, use words like "something far deadlier"... i mean, that critter is a few inches small and kills shrimp, it's not a monster :D

It's actually like this, Ike: It's called personification. If advertisers and people who make documentaries want to snare an audience, they have to present the material in a way that makes the audience "care". So, they put things on a scale commensurate with that of a human, and give the subject "human" qualities. I reckon it works on us Yanks pretty well, because they use it a LOT. Hence a lot of cartoons of cars and bugs that have "human" difficulties and adventures. Savvy?

One question: Where is this clip taken from? Can we still regard it as an excerpt from a "serious" documentary that was adressed towards an adult audience, or is its primary aim to make a younger audience interested in nature and the various forms of life we find within it by using these not-so-new forms of entertainment? I think the answer is pretty obvious, really. That's why the cartoon-comparison, although seeming a bit out of place at first, makes sense. Which leads inescapably to the next question: Do you find it okay (from an educational point of view) that this natural circle is shown in such a way? Another question everyone should answer for himself. Somehow I'm already getting bored of it just by typing it, so that should be sufficient for now. And we all know what opinions are like:

Maybe somewhere on it are lost SYL DVD's cheerleaders. I still hold hope to find them.
