Good evening/morning/afternoon/night everyone,
As some of you may know, I have been planning something special the past few weeks. As a direct reflection of the amazing people that we have on the forum, I have decided to compile, master, mix and produce a compilation of music from artists on our own HevyDevy Forums. I am doing this free of charge and totally because I want to. Haha!
The name of the project is 'The HevyDevyAllStars'. Cheesy maybe...but cheese is neat.
This is a project I had been meaning to do for some time and only recently I have put it in gear. I came up with this idea after I realised how much of the music I have downloaded from people here that I actually listen to. I was struck by how much of it is of such a high quality. After playing with a WinAmp playlist of my favourite songs, I figured it could be very interesting to actually put my favourite songs together properly in the form of a CD (or a CDR anyway heh). I intend to have a 'releaseable' product (hopefully also with some fun artwork) that I can share either online or offline.
I began this project by emailing my favourite HevyDevy Forums Artists™©® and asking for permission to use their music. Every one who got back to me was overwhelmingly enthusiastic and so this leads me now to where I am now.
The 'core' artists already set to appear on this disc are:
Danra
TeamJonny
Terraformer
Armheadmcgee
Olive? (and his band Atomic Ants)
Greg Reason
Earworm
Blazingmonga (what a freak!)
Mo (and his band Way Of The Extreme)
Strapping Young Lad (possibly with his band Indignation)
However, I still have room for a track or two. If there is anybody else out there who has something really cool to contribute, then please contact me. If not, then that is fine and I will go ahead with what I have here. However...the standard is very high and I think if I am to be honest then I should say that I will be using some level of restraint in adding more people. Well...kinda. I dont know, I will be happy to hear from anybody interested.
The included artists will hopefully be supplying me with high quality versions of their songs for me to use.
Once the project is complete I will make it available to everybody here. I will be happy to post copies of it out to anybody who wants one. Ultimately this is all just a bit of fun, sort of a tribute to the people here. If I can make somebody laugh when they hear it then, then that would be great. If you can actually enjoy the finished project on a musical level then that would be incredible. I think that the artists involved deserve that.
What do you all think of this then?
Anybody interested in getting a copy when it is complete?
