I'm a newbie to DTB and these boards too. I've only got Ocean Machine at the moment. I got a burned copy of Terria, which is on my list of CD's To Buy. I should be ordering it very soon.

What album should I get next? Infinity or Accelerated Evolution? I've heard a few from each, AE seems more appealing to me so far, it's just got a more down to earth vibe to it. From The few songs I've heard from Infinity, it seems a little cartoonish and un-serious in a way, but still awesome.

Hey, rgx612a. Welcome to the site :)

Ocean Machine is a great album - my favourite, actually. However, I bought AE first and Infinity at the same time as Ocean Machine. I would say that if you're slightly in doubt over what to get next, get AE :D. Infinity is a great album, but probably harder to get into if you're newer to the whole Devy scene.

Hey everyone, fairly recant Devin fan, first heard him on the Vai album (back when I was into guitar wankery  ) and eventually found myself more amazed by the vocals than anything else so I bought Terria and WOW!
I just picked up Alien yesterday and havn't turned it off since!

Howdy and welcome.

You'll soon discover that several of your fellow Scots wander these hallowed halls as fellow Dev-otees as well! :D

Hello guys, I'm ZoSo and I'm Devolocic...

I remember how my friend praised "Steve Vai's singer" in the early 90's as the best singer he had ever seen. I was like, yes yes, sure thing...

I liked the S&R album but didn't pay attention to Devin that much. Now, over 10 years later I saw someone listing Devin Townsend as his favorite guitar player, I was like "hey, I know this guy..." but from where, I couldn't remember. I checked from Allmusic.com and realized who this guy was. I downloaded some samples from the Net and fell in love with the music immediately. Since then I've started collecting Devin's music and I must admit that Devin is clearly the most interesting artist that I have stumbled accross in many years.

His composition skills, intensity, musicality and guitar playing are overal in the level which I've only seen Frank Zappa and Prince so far. Devin is a true genious!

Hi there,
First post here. Thought I would join to keep up to date with all Devy's going's on. Hope he's back to Europe for a full tour soon. Got to see him with the band in Glasgow supportin' The Wildhearts. Totally blew me away.

Woop Woop Wooop!1st post! How Thrilling

I've been a fan of all things Townsend-esque since I heard 'Underneath The Waves' on a cover CD back when City was released...ah, those halcyon days...

Devin rates in my estimations as second only to the demented meisterworks of one Mike Patton, and it was a happy day a couple of weeks ago that saw me running home from the record shop with both 'Alien' and 'Suspended Animaton' clutched in my mittens. Splendid, Splendid, Spendid.

Well, this seems like a very friendly little forum and I look forward to exchanging gibberish with you all......

I'm a Devin Townsend fanatic, and I've been into the group since the release of "Accelerated Evolution." Devin Townsend helped nourish me through a phase of complete self-loathing and pessimism into a less hateful state of open-mindedness and cynicism, rather than a completely unprogressive attitude in both music and socially. I also began indulging myself in music after hearing him and his various projects and influences, teaching myself electric guitar and bass guitar, as well as drums and violin. I've had formal training in piano and trumpet, and taught myself the harmonica years ago. Now, I write for http://www.uraniummusic.com [Ryan Loostrom], and pretty much waste my time playing guitar. I'm into several forms of music, but my most listened-to genres would probably be Jazz, Indie Rock(Although I'm completely ignorant to most of it), Classic Rock, and Metal--though, modern Metal has left me a bit turned-off as to the entire closed-mindedness of it all. If you have to burn down a church to prove the truth behind your image, you're a poser.

Thought I'd have some fun at one my idols' forums, so yeah. Here I am.

Welcome everyone!

We encourage open mindedness here. Its usually a messy affair though, heh.

Yeah, Open-Mindedness is usually a double-edged sword. If I say you're closed-minded, then I'm closed-minded towards someone who is closed-minded, therefor, not really open-minded at all.
