Welcome! I dunno exactly what you said there (perhaps one of the others could help me with the bigger words...?) but Dev place good!

How I found Devin, was just a few months ago. I was having a nice evening with my friends, sitting in a large, cozy room which was built in an old house's attic. Having a discussion of progressive metal, everyone of us introduced one band. One of my friends put Devin's album Terria in cd-player and from that moment I was hooked. SYL became into my life right after that evening, by accident, when I heard it played next morning (actually the guy whose room it was put Oh My Fucking God with full volume - nice way to wake up with a little hangover).

Now here I am, writing my first mesage in Hevydevy forums, now playing SYL's Satan's Ice Cream Truck from cd and hoping that I will maybe get new friends liking the same music and having good discussions in here - I hope this is not a small inside-group who doesn't like newbies.

Maybe finally a little introduction: I am 22-years old young woman from Finland, listening quite much different kinds of progressive metal, playing drums in a small weirdo band with four guys and I like clever, mind-challenging music like Devin's.

My name is Matthijs, 18 years old, I'm from the Netherlands and I've been a Devin fan for a long time now. I've already spent quite sometime on the SYL forum and the HDR forum, I just didn't post anything yet. I can tell you that I'm not the person who posts a lot, but I'd just like to say hello to all of you.
And I'd like to state quite clearly that this is the most civilised forum I've ever seen (this goes for the SYL forum, too), which imo says enough about Devin's music and the people that choose to listen to it: intelligent music for intelligent people. (I prefer hanging out with intelligent people, you know)

Hello everyone! Belated introduction here.

Been fan of DEV/SYL for quite a while now. First discovered SYL back when Heavy As a Really Heavy Thing came out. Didn't realize he was the same guy in that ol' Vai record from before until a couple of years later.

Why do I like this stuff so much? I guess I just dig the "Deviness" of it all.

My name's John Quill (hence 'Quilly', my actual name), I'm 18, I'm a (quitting) college student from Ireland, and a budding musician! been a fan of SYL and DTB since 1999, have never seen them live (dang...), would like to!

Not much else to know 'bout me really... I'm a member of a number of forums on line, I know the drill...

As for music... Love Nine Inch Nails, Strapping Young Lad and DTB, Fear Factory, Ministry, and tons more... everything from Opeth and Emperor right through to Depeche Mode and Air!

Looking forward to talkin' to all you here... and I'll be back to post properly tomorrow, seeing as I commute to college every day and gotta get a train home early today!
