Hard Wired?

I used to be a massive FLA fan, and have most of their albums eps and singles (everything up to Plasticity in fact).

Devin appeared around the time that FLA went more industrial metal, hence the addition of heavy guitars. Prior to that, the band were far more electronic. Tactical Neural Implant is one of their best pre-guitar albums.

Hard Wired is the better album overall of the two "Devin" albums but not as guitar heavy as Millenium so if you wanna hear more of Devin playing you're better off with the latter 8)

As for the last nine year's worth of FLA I'm sure it's great, so can someone explain to me where all that time has gone and why I haven't bought it!!??!

I now feel very old :D

civilisation was kind of disapointing, it sounded like a weird mix between delirium(their side project) and FLA... so it switched between weird angelic vocals and the dark FLA style :\

the only FLA albums i've heard are tactical neural implant, civilization and hard wired

You've probably heard their strongest material then. The older stuff is still worth hearing tho if you're into eighties industrial - cos they were one of the best bands of the genre imo.

Also, I quite like Delirium but I can imagine mixing that style with the darkwave thing would sound a bit odd.

Implode is ok.

And IMO Civilization is good, Delerium-style bits don't annoy me - I'm rather fan of more spacey, melodic side of FLA than harsher ebm bits.

www.mindphaser.com

the largest FLA and sideprojects fansite on the web.

theres also a Dev/SYL section and biographies for all those SYL members that were busy with FLA here and there.

in fact, the albums dev played on are mill and HW, but Live Wired has Jed and Adrian White as FLA live tour band.
anyways, I can extremely recommend FLAetc, Devetc is just my second fav artist behind FLA, and the boys actually put out MORE records than Dev, I have about 80 CDs of them...

and watch out later this year: the first official FLA DVD, including all their music videos and the remastered Live Wired video, so anyone who wants JED SIMON you'll be happy!

i like both of them but they don't mix very well.

i wouldn't call leeb/fulber my FAVOURITE artists, but they're definetely up there. And i've only known about them for 4~ months

I remember waaay back when there was some special on Muchmusic or something, where they had a live broadcast of FLA with both Jed and Byron playing at this internet cafe here in Van... It was pretty cool I must say... Terry David Mulligan was hosting it, and in his intro he mentioned how FLA is so popluar in Europe, but barely known about around here except for us hardcore few... You could say the same about Strapping... Which makes me think a one-off, co-headling gig with FLA and SYL would be pretty frickin' sweet...

I'm tryin to get some comments from Jed and Dev on the DVD, maybe film an interview with them regarding the Live Wired days and Devs guitar guesting, and Byrons tour tech work on the LW tour, so this will be something for SYL fans too. too good that both are my fav bands :)

official FLA DVD news here, just posted this on mindphaser today:

18-01-05 Front Line Assembly DVD

FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY - THE VIDEOS / LIVE WIRED. THE OFFICIAL FLA DVD - coming in 2005. I've been busy with this for months now, and at this point of time its almost sure to happen: Front Line Assembly will release a DVD sometime this year including ALL THEIR MUSIC VIDEO CLIPS in glancing DVD quality, including the legendary Mindphaser clip, the 2 Intermix video clips and about 5 new unreleased music videos for songs such as Prophecy, Comatose, Everything Must Perish etc. Not enough? The DVD will probably be a double disc set and will also have the whole "Live Wired" live show video of their 1995/96 tour, completely renovated and remastered. And how about audio commentaries by the band and some of the video directors along with all of that? I'll do my best. Eh yup, this DVD is currently being worked out by Henrik Bauer at Mega Mind Video Department, the person who is also the MP admin and who's writing this text now:) Releasedate wont be before late summer 2005. For a first view watch or download a first little trailer here. More news on this to come.
