I can relate. Work decided being "compassionate" when my father entered hospice meant demanding updates on his situation then reminding me I was within the 90 day probationary period if it seemed I might want to go see him in a hurry. It was terrifying at first but in the end not being around that sort of b. s. has helped me avoid resuming self-medication for my grief and depression.

Well hey! Me too. A week ago. Yay for sociopathic brewery owners who don't like you. Last week has been rough. Just try to keep counting the good things.

Anyway, missed you fellows. Now I have time to come around here again, which is swell.

^Bittersweet right? I'm basically a forum rat now with how much free time I have with downtime at work. I wonder if anyone is tired of seeing replies from ol' Keasby yet.

Solidarity bro-sky.

Try Denver. There are more breweries than convenience stores out there. Mr Married Man.

They keep opening breweries out in Massachusetts too. Not that I suggest moving here. It smells funny.

Yeah, I dunno... I think I'm done with brewery work. I think it's probably just the boss I had that's ruined it for me, but the pressure I was constantly under under that boss has turned me off to the environment of a brewery for at least awhile--but more likely forever. As a five-year brewer said who quit the day before I was fired to my boss (the owners) face when asked what advice he would impart to us: "GABF (Great American Beer Festival) almost made it worth it." The free beer almost made it worth dealing with that sociopath, but not quite.

Now on to the wide open world of job hunting.

Edit: Also, man... it is so refreshing to talk about this. I've been hesitant saying anything on other social media just in case other potential employers come a-lookin.

I decided to be open about it - I'm basically canned for illegal reasons and the depressive side would come out sooner or later. I feel great and could defend anything about myself, so I've no complaints.

To hell with employers who don't care about their staff. I just hope if I do get another job my next boss won't be a passive-aggressive asshole.

Good luck with the job hunts, guys!

In other news: I'm expecting a call any day now telling me my grandmother has passed away. Past few weeks she's really been pining away, and it's both painful and heart-warming to read the little reports my aunt emails us every day. She's fully living in the past now, and if she's awake she tells some random little things (which aren't real, but real in her mind). Yesterday, apparently she knitted clothes for me and my brothers; not for my niece, because she knows how to knit already. Then her and my aunt went for a walk by the sea with coffee and pie afterwards...

She's so far gone, but her children, me and her other grandchildren are still on her mind. I actually wept when I read it.

I'm very sorry to hear all of that.. I lost my grandmother last year. She's the only grandparent I knew in my lifetime. Both my father's parents died before my oldest sister was born, and my mother's father died when she was in high school.. Her passing was very hard on me, so I can completely empathize with you there. You have my warmest regards.

Losing your grandmother is hard.
I last spoke to mine on her 91st birthday earlier this year; she passed on a week later. However hard it might be, all the good memories outweigh the pain. Best to enjoy the time now (needless to say).

My heart goes out to you swerve, it's never easy to lose someone who's important to you.

Anyone familiar with my situation suspects my employer's reasons for canning me are of questionable legality. Their stated ones are such that I can collect unemployment which is nice.

I would say not every brewery is bad but honestly one of the things I miss least about drinking is having brewer "friends." Bunch of manipulative little divas.

Being a person who doesn't drink alcohol, I was not aware of all the drama that apparently goes on in the brewing world. Haha, sounds like a bunch of children running the place from what I've seen!
