Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

new Mastodon....really digging it. It's certainly not as proggy as their earlier stuff but definitely also not as poppy and accessible as 'The Hunter', I'd say. It still might disappoint many of the die-hard progheads who are craving for a 'Crack the Skye' type album. Me however, me likey.

Can't wait to finally listen to the new album by Misery Index (hopefully) tomorrow.

Excited for the new Mastodon... Not many bands worth getting super excited about at the moment, but that may just say something about me.

Me also like, very much! Very melodic and just a ton of fun. On every album they've truly delivered something new and fresh and this is no exception...Always worth the wait! :D

An awesome local band (Sacramento), FallRise. They have a self-released disc out titled "Territories." Take Pantera, add some Sevendust, and then make it more radio-friendly. Really good for an unsigned band. They also just landed regular rotation on Sacramento's rock station, 98.5 KRXQ.

I've been listening to this disc daily on my commute. A solid effort.

New Mastodon doing absolutely nothing for me at all. Sure it's catchy and melodic and will probably for alot of folk become a soundtrack for this Summer that causes all kinds of nostalgia in later years, but for myself everything just seems to run together with nothing in particular standing out. It feels like they've gone out of their way for that Summer Soundtrack vibe and all the edge, adventure and dynamics have fallen by the wayside to accommodate that goal. Less Mastodon and more Mehstodon. Ah well, at least we still have Crack the Skye.

It's fantastic.

I also like the new Mastodon, but I don't have a beard so my opinion doesn't count.

Hmm (*strokes beard*)....indeed

New Perturbator album "Dangerous Days". Chap has outdone himself. Pure joygasm for the 80's horror and sci-fi fan.
