Thanks ^^,

One reason this is really really awesome is that I am considering applying for a master+phd with that lecturer as a supervisor. He has given me excellent marks before, and I won the end-of-term lecture quiz, and came 3rd in the weekly quizzes summarized (both totally undeserved imho), so I might have a chance. He's got a pretty impressive network (including UCL and BBC), and I'd be the first in my extended family to get a phd.

Just thinking big here. While peeing my pants.

You're too far down a road of committed and consistent excellence and higher reaching to be that little person anymore. Grow into your new, wonderful skin and strive to be the best you ever, Faffs. You're much more awesome than you've let yourself feel.

Go for it. My biggest regret in life is not believing in myself and going after what I want. If you want it, you can do it!

checked out several 4K TVs today. Of course it makes no sense at all to buy one yet. It probably makes no sense to buy one for several years to come. But boy oh boy was I impressed. Looks insanely good and awesome.

I didn't know they existed until you mentioned them.

I USED to be cool. I USED to know stuff.

I suspect a new telly is a loooong way off for me but that's fine as my Bravia does a lovely job.

I'm not sureif it's awesome or not, but I applied for a shit-kicker job to pay the rent before uni starts. It's for a new burger joint that is trying to replicate real American hamburgers (as opposed to the usual crap you get from the big chains). So, freshly ground beef, good relish, real cheese and so on. I sent them a cover letter with my resume and gave them a run down of my favourite burger joints in the US, based on the fact that my wife and I love burgers, Mexican food, diner food and Southern BBQ and spent most of our time getting fat on our last two US trips.

They basically asked me if I want to be a manager.

I'm flattered but with a 2 year old and a 2 week old, a full time uni course and a chronic ear condition to deal with, management is just too much. Show me where the burgers are cooked and let me do my burger flipping for $20 per hour, a couple of days per week. Fingers crossed it works out. If nothing else they seem like really cool guys with a great attitude.

Well, if you can get any position there, management or grunt work, I hope they give it to you. Especially for that kind of money!

Cheers mate.

Minimum wage plus casual loading should put me around there. It's a huge drop from what I made for years, but that's a choice I've made and so far it's the right one. I think!

yeah, ain't gonna get a new TV anytime soon myself. There's not even data discs for 4K movies, I suspect there won't be any for retail use before 2015. And who knows if the PS4 disc drive will be able to play those discs. The PS4 can do 4K but the disc drive has to do the job too after all. So there's really no reason to get a new 4K TV for a long while, especially since they cost between 3,000 and 5,000

No doubt it's just a question of time before the tech or something like it makes its way into our houses.

And thanks. Haven't actually got a job yet, just waiting to hear back after the Christmas break.

So, we just went round to my mum's for New Years days. We got round there, and tensions were high and we thought we were I for a nightmare day.

Now, my mum came out to a select portion of the family a couple of years ago at the age of 60, but she's chosen not to tell my 84 year old grandma (which is the one bit I'm really uncomfortable in all of this, but I do understand why she doesn't want to tell her)

So at lunch, there is me, my husband, my mum, my grandma, my mum's aunt and my mum's partner (how my Grandma's not figured out that she's not just a friend at this point is beyond me...)

After lunch we settle down for a game of trivial pursuit. My mum asks her parent her first question...and without a word of a lie, it was "what is the name for the people who live on the Greek island of Lesbos?" At which point we all started crying with laughter...luckily my grandma's losing her hearing so it went straight over her head. You could not have made it up!

I'm going to be laughing about that one for weeks!

So, this is happening. Cloudkicker is actually playing live shows. US NA only for now, but just the possibility of hearing Cloudkicker live... Awesome.
