Talk about whatever you want to here, but stay correct

I hope everyone overcomes their illnesses ASAP! I'm acutely aware of the impact poor health has on people's lives, so you have my good vibes, for whatever that's worth!

Pim, really interesting that you craved yoghurt. It sounds to me like your system is seeking to replenish the healthy bacteria in your gut that may have been weakened by your stomach flu. Just guessing of course, but I'd say that yoghurt will do you a lot of good. Looking after the flora in your gut is worth doing blah blah blah.

Thank you all for the well wishes.

The Western Australian government, for wanting to kill off an endangered species after a phobic, knee-jerk reaction:
http://www.watoday.com.au/wa-news/wa-go ... .html#poll

Fact: if you go into the ocean, particularly in a region abundant with wildlife, you might run into a shark. Despite the attacks on record, it's still fairly a low casualty rate. Drowning would be a greater cause of death (though this rarely makes headlines).
But these guys don't care dick about ecology and the ocean environment; they probably saw Jaws once and took it as bible truth that all sharks, especially great whites, are man-eating monsters that deliberately hunt beach-goers.

It would be better if the politicians themselves were fed to the sharks. Makes more sense than the bullshit they continue to spew out.

I had a big old rant about this topic on Facebook and I agree with you.

Are we really so backward and primitive that we insist on such a violently futile quest to kill apex predators that dare to do exactly what millions of years of evolution have told them to do? Just so we can pretend we have a "safe" beach to paddle in? I feel like skateboarding across the plains of Southern Africa... Better kill as many lions and hyenas as possible so that I can feel safer.

What a pack of arseholes.

So me and my husband are looking after my sister's kids tomorrow night do they could go away for their anniversary. In order to make order to make tomorrow morning less stressful (given we had a 3hr drive to get here and any delays might cause them to have to rush tomorrow) we travelled up tonight.

All was well until sis and bro in law went to bed at 9pm. We decided to get an early night an hr later, but on the way up, hubby pulls something in his back and is in loads of pain. We get to the spare room /junk room and discover that somewhere in this mountain of junk is something which has its batteries running out and is letting out a loud beep every 40 seconds. There is no way to find it without causing an avalanche that'll wake up the whime house. So I head to the bathroom for cotton wool to stick in our ears. No luck.

I venture downstairs, climb over the kiddy gate and make it halfway down the stairs when hubby decides to shut the bedroom door, thus killing my only light source. It's too late to turn back now, so I press on. Somehow I avoid all of the toys etc on the floor, make it through baby gate 2, fumble my way into the down stairs toilet. I shut the door, put the light on. No cotton wool.

Ah- ha, I think, baby changing table in the living room, there must be some cotton wool there....no, the entire table has made way for the Xmas tree.

I reverse my perilous journey in pitch black and somehow make it back to the junk room. There is every piece if baby paraphernalia known to man piled up in here, and stil no chuffing cotton wool. So, at this point, hubby is in a lot of pain and very grumpy, so I send him down to the sofa with the duvet. Currently wearing a hoodie, and using 2 bath towels as a blanket. Blooming freezing and I can still hear that beeping over my iPod :( not getting ANY sleep tonight I expect!

Sorry, another political rant.

The state government's tax hikes. As of 2014, this city will become a more inaccessible and expensive place to live, with nobody profiting except for politicians who want to suck the blood and funds of their entire constituency.
Add to that a lot of people are unemployed due to recent government decisions and are being further fucked in the ass with these tax hikes, and these suits wonder why their economy is dipping.

What pisses me off most is the modifications made to public transport. Limiting certain journey values and increasing fares (with weekend rates now past the point of reason), justifying that it's still "great value" and that previous fares were unsustainable, which is a load of bullshit since they worked just fine for years before now.
The best part is that they want to use the tax hikes for projects like tunnels and other developments which many in this city view extraneous, as there are level crossings and in use tracks and systems which need upgrades before further developments should be made.

As I use public transport exclusively and work for public transport to boot, I feel not only disgusted as a commuter but also vile that I have to sit there and parrot government reasoning to people just as angry as I am.
Well, you voted them in Victoria. This is what you want, this is what you get.

Well, that was a rough night! I mentioned said beeping to my sister in the morning, to see if she might be able to narrow town what/where it was " oh no, did that keep you awake?"...my bro on law: "it's really annoying, because it's just a single beep, it's not enough to figure out where it is" ....this fact had not escaped me.

Eventually, we moved each big box out of the room until we found the offending box and moved it to the garage, phew!

 Nosebleeds, perhaps? Still, that's pretty nasty. He ought to be courteous enough to do it himself.

Unfortunately, I was eating while reading these. Now I feel horrible!

Sending best wishes to everyone in distress or annoyed state of mind!
The shark matter mentioned earlier makes me mad.
Some humans just don't really care about this planet, this LIFE, and want everything else to step out of their way, without realizing they are the ones intruding.. Urgh!
