Talk about whatever you want to here, but stay correct

Star Trek: Into Darkness was a cool blockbuster-flick. I think it's already safe to say that Star Wars is in, at the very least, better hands now with Abrams.

Yeah I'm in that boat. I love me some zombie fun but don't watch anything else that would really be considered horror these days. I just don't find it to be an enjoyable experience.

As for the new Star Wars films, I agree that ichthyosaurs have to be made then it's better to have Abrams (read: anyone at all) rather than Lucas.

Ichthyosaurs!?!?

Wow now that is a quality autocorrect. "If changes" became a dinosaur... Outstanding work, iPhone.

I'm a dinosaur-guy (although, before anyone tries to correct this, Ichthyosaurs are not dinosaurs), so I was kind of impressed with such an obscure reference and was totally gonna high-five you. Guess I'll have to withhold it now.

Pacific Rimjob 3D

Man, what a ride! Really enjoyed PR quite a bit! This is about as good as mindless popcorn cinema can get. Loved the special effects and all the awesome action. I will admit the first half was a liiiiiittle slow and maybe a bit too cheesy. I think it would have worked better if all the drama and cheese hadn't been packed into the first hour of the movie. Because that only left action and explosions for the second half, heh. But that's not much of an issue, loved it anyways. And it was absolutely gorgeous in 3D. One of the best 3D conversions I have seen so far and such conversions can often go really wrong.

I saw PR at the cinema (a rare treat recently!) and had a blast. So much heavy duty smashing and crashing, it brought out the little kid in me, even though that's pretty easy.

you got that right, bro. It pushes the same buttons that old Gozilla movies used to push for me when I was a kid, or monster flicks in general.

Watched 'The World's Fastest Indian' the other day and it's easily one of the best movies I've seen. Pure feel-good gold. And Anthony Hopkins at his best. Might just be his best performance since SOTL and just shows how good he is at what he does and that he can play more than psychos or dark characters in general. I'll definitely watch it again, it might even make it into my top 10 faves list.

Gravity in 3D. When seated middle at third row from screen, immersion was incredible. Bullock does good job too, probably her best so far.

The Conjuring. To be honest I was expecting this to be more scary, it was ok but not real nightmare fuel.

The Wizard of Oz in 3D...the movie still tests my tolerance for musicals and cheese. But oh well, guess it's a classic. But I think it was made for people who have an inner 12 year old girl...and for 12 year old girls. 3D was super impressive though, again another conversion done right. That alone made rewatching it worth my time.

I usually make it to the Lollypop Guild song then suddenly lose all interest. :P

Another double feature night.

Machete Kills
The first movie was an awesome modern grindhouse film. This one is more like an ultra-violent cartoon. Danny Trejo is still badass here, but the tone of the movie shifts from being similar to the original to a cheesy amalgamation of Moonraker and Star Wars (appropriate then that the next one is In Space).
Don't get me wrong, it is entertaining and often funny, and the cast are clearly having fun with their roles, especially Sofia Vergara. Just be sure to leave your brain at the door.

Spring Breakers
I almost decided not to stay for this movie. The session was two for the price of one, but I wasn't exactly interested. Still, it was directed by the guy who made Kids and Gummo, so I eventually decided why not, just see it for an opinion.

To say this movie is like watching a bad episode Girls Gone Wild is an understatement. There's plenty of nudity, sex, drugs and drinking. Plenty of vacuous parties with that typical spring break soundtrack that appeals to that particular crowd.
But there is also a dark side that shows how desperate and vicious people can become in order to fulfill their dreams. It's these emotional complexities and consequences that make this movie worth staying for (although the finale could have been a bit more tragic). Worth at least one viewing.

agreed, I was actually surprised I liked it. It may not be the type of movie you'd watch more than once but I'd also say it's worth watching once because it's quite different.

I watched the original Maniac (thanks to the Pimster) and it was fucked up as always. Unpleasant pleasure, if that makes sense :P

I'll watch Machete Kills just for Sofia Vergara. Crazy hot and goofy funny... thank you very much Colombia.

Mrs Juz is due with bub pretty soon so today will be our only chance to see a movie. My choice of Gravity or Captain Phillips has be vetoed by wifey in favour of the new Hunger Games. Happy to be overruled as she's kind of earned it. Plus it's a big improvement over bloody Twilight which was last the last late term pregnancy movie.

Fingers crossed it won't be entirely awful.
