Thank you!

We now have a mysoginistic, homophobic, climate change denying, bible bashing, sleazy creep for a PM.

How long before he tells Chancellor Merkel to get back in the kitchen, make him a sandwich and work on her "sex appeal"?

So mad at the Labor Party for allowing this to happen through their own in-fighting.

Bleh. At least the weather's nice!

Thanks to getting just about no signal at home, or at the hockey rink, I came out at 11pm to a text from my sister saying "Signal nonexistent - make it house phone xxx"...I assumed it was from when we'd spoken a few hours earlier.

Just woke up to a cryptic text from my dad addressed to my sister, referring to me, but I think the upshot is that my 87 year old Granny is in hospital. I've now got to wait for the point when I'm sure they're awake to find out what the hell is happening :( too worried to sleep, too tired to be awake

It's time for another edition of First World Problems.

Devin's Melbourne show is on the 13th of October. I actually forgot the date and thought it was a bit later than that, but I was wrong.

Unfortunately, I'll be interstate at this point. What's worse is that I cannot afford the fees to make the necessary flight changes. Not if I want my rent and upcoming bills paid on time. Add to that I'm going on this trip with my girlfriend, so suddenly changing my schedules because I forgot the date of a concert I wanted to go to is going to piss her right off. The kicker is I'll be returning home two days later.

Just learned a good friend of mine is being used by two different guys who don't seem to give a shit how she feels. There are few things I hate more than the mistreatment of women.

Drunken texting is one thing, but drunken messaging on dating websites whilst having a paranoia disorder is a whole other level of stupidity.

Sharing this on a forum is probably just as stupid.

Something tells me I may have GERD.

Stomach pains, problems swallowing food properly, heartburn and my larynx has a burning / irritated feeling when I laugh.

Anyone have GERD / acid reflux?

Lucky me, off to the doc again. :|

me...here...me! I have chronic acid reflux with chronic stomach and esophagus inflammation. You should certainly get a gastroscopy done. Even if the doctors don't think it's necessary. My doctors didn't think it's necessary when I felt that something was wrong and then when they finally thought I need a gastroscopy my problems were irreversable already. So again...don't waste any time.

Do not drink any carbonated beverages untill you know what's up. No spicy or hot food. No fatty food, try to avoid sugar. NO chocolate. And if you can then try to sleep with your torso elevated, if that makes sense. Maybe you have a recliner or something like that. Helps too.

Thanks Lars! I'll do all of the above.

Information overshare below, so those not interested in my gastrointestinal happenings look away now. 8)

Last two weeks I've noticed that after meals (for a couple of hours at least), my meal keeps repeating on me - hot, burning belches that smell and taste of whatever I just ate. Wife can even smell it, it's disgusting. As I said, the throat is fine unless I laugh or sing high and my larnynx "drops" if you know what I mean, to make the sound - I then get a sharp and burning pain on the left side of my throat and a feeling like there's a lump in there. No hoarseness at all, which is good. I've had the abdominal pain for about 2 years now (had scans, blood tests etc. with no relief) and since I was a kid I've had issues with eating chicken or tuna too fast - it would get stuck in my esophagus and give me shocking pain and a feeling like I couldn't breathe. Just dismissed it as me eating too fast.

Would be great to find out what the problem is at last and limit any further damage (no doubt some has been done already haha). Unfortunately I have to wait two weeks as we are moving to Brisbane to be close to family for the birth of our second child in December. Docs won't have time to follow anything up here in Melbourne. So I'll follow all of your advice and see a doc as soon as I'm in Brisbane - I have a good family doctor lined up there.

Cheers mate and if you have any other advice, please let me know!

sounds like your stomach sphinctor might be damaged just like mine. What I would also suggest is that you go to a pharmacy store and get some acid blockers. Omeprazole or Pantoprazole...the latter being the better choice. If you can get either without a prescription. No alcohol or cigarettes either but that is pretty obvious, I guess.

Any sort of fruit is also a bad idea. Fruit acid makes your problems worse. Same goes for orange juice, etc. . I personally have problems with beans and peas sometimes but I don't know if that is very common.

If your problems turn out to be what I mentioned above then please do feel free to contact me if you need any addional advice. I've been dealing with this for 10 years now.

Thanks again Lars.

I'll look into them and see if they are available over the counter here. If not I may have to go to the local quack and ask for something pending a proper investigation.

Don't drink (any more) and don't smoke so that's easy.

I'll let you know how it all goes once we complete the move.
