My opinion on Walking Dead season finale....

Spoiler: show
I liked it, but in comparison to the midseason finale, this had nothing on it. I thought it was a bit of a cop out to have the Prison-dwellers able to avoid this huge battle we've been waiting half the season for by just firing a couple shots and throwing a few smoke bombs. It was too much build up for something so small, and the biggest part of the cop out was having the Governor kill all the opposition to Team Prison. While I liked it as a way to further define the evil in his character it was kinda lame. The end of the episode too didn't leave me super hungry for more like the last season, which by and large was not very good, did. Not really a huge cliff hanger. As for Andrea dying... meh?

All that said, I did enjoy it despite it's flaws. I'm excited to see Carl continue turning into a child formed by the apocalypse and seeing Rick struggle with that and his own sanity. And of course, to see what the Governor will do.

And remember... if Darryl dies, we riot.

finally watched season 2 of Game of Thrones after acquiring it on Blu-ray and I fuggin' LOVED it! BUT I have to say I don't believe that I'll be able to wait another year untill I can watch season 3 on Blu-ray so I'll have to get my filthy fingers on that season one way or another once it's done. However, it goes without saying...I'll buy it next year anyways.

I agree with absolutely EVERYTHING you said. Perfect summary of the finale. Particularly the "meh?" - the good ship give-a-fuck had long since sailed by the time that happened.

So, Game of Thrones! I'm loving this series so far. Particularly episode 2 -
Spoiler: show
It reminded me of Raymond E Feist at his finest. Lots of hunkering down in the woods, small taverns filled with drunken louts, hard bread and cheese and a bowl of stew to get your fill. Magic stuff. And the end to the latest episode was fantastic. I was already doing fucking backflips with excitement when I realised Noah Taylor was in the series. But to do what he did... not THAT'S how you end an episode! My wife has read the books and knew what he was going to do, so she was waiting for it and pissed herself laughing at my reaction.

Watching tonnes of Dragonball Z all at once really screws up your perception of fight scenes in non-DBZ shows. I keep expecting people to throw their enemies through cliffs and shoot lasers out of their hands.

American Horror Story: Asylum just finished here (we're so fortunate to be months behind everyone else!) and I loved it. Definitely getting it on Blu-Ray once it's released.
The third season is set to have Kathy Bates as the nemesis I read, and apparently her character is meant to be 5 times worse than Annie Wilkes. They better not be lying!

This is gonna sound odd but I've never watched Game of Thrones (that's not the odd bit) always wanted to but yeah, can't stand shows with random sex just thrown in here, there and everywhere (there's the odd bit). Really tempted to watch it anyway but still put off since I hear it's full of boning, is it really that full of it?

Don't worry, I haven't watched a single episode of Game of Thrones, and I don't even feel any urge to... Guess it's my counter-reaction to all the hype and buzz about it. I've had that about some shows before too. Go figure.

So I can't comment on Game of Thrones, but talking of gratuitous HBO-style boning, I couldn't help noticing and being annoyed by it in Rome. In the first season (the only one I've seen, I somehow missed the second one completely) you could really see a pattern how they loaded the first couple of episodes with boning as a kind of statement, like "See, boning here and there and everywhere! This is HBO, biatches!!"

I guess that's just a personal preference for you, and that's fair enough.

From my perspective, people like to shag so I have no issue with it, any more than I do with someone getting drunk in a tavern or having a limb hacked off by an enemy. It's just something people do.

I watch Game of Thrones for the character development, political scheming, beautiful design and cinematography, and the hint of fantasy here and there. The good looking folk getting their kit off every now and then is just a bonus!

and there's not really THAT much boning to be seen. AND when there is boning it's nothing that would give one a boner. This is not Spartacus which was a total dick parade.

I agree. There's definitely functional nudity in the series too. Also, I have the feeling there's less of it every season. I encourage everyone to not let this discourage you to watch it (further).
