THIS. Ex-fucking-actly. I want to share the music with people, fuck all if they're a metal fan or not or a "true" fan or any of this other bullshit. Take my blonde friend (names Haley). She, at first glance at least, looks like she's a bleach-blonde sorority girl, but totally isn't. She really likes Disturbed and Avenged Sevenfold and stuff like that, which, while not my cup of tea, she likes. So I showed her Dev and she was like wow... awesome. So she came up to the show and loved it, despite our run in. I think it's awesome to open her up to something different without this elitist, hipster attitude of "Yeah, I'm a fan, you're not. And the only way you're worth anything is if you're a fan." It's ludacrious and especially for Dev against what his music is about I think.

And Paul and Cody, Dev was telling me last night there was some guy at the SF show up front who I guess kept giving Dev and the guys the douche stare the whole show so Dev just messed with him the whole time. I guess he's coming to another show too later on during the tour and Dev's planning on making a sign that says, "douche," to put over him.

L-O-FREAKING-L.

Funny thing is, I know Dev won't do that (dudes a sweet heart), but was funny to hear.

You know what I think is funniest about all of this?

In my circles, I'm the one who's told that all of the Dev material is my thing, and I can't somehow find the way to get people to listen to it, no matter how hard I try. Most of my friends back home know who he is, and they don't care. Most of my friends out here don't know who he is, don't care, and are too busy listening to the new Dirty Projectors album.

Well, there used to be someone who went to shows with me, but she's thankfully 3,000 miles away now.

To be fair, Haley may be the first person, besides my girlfriend, that I've ever sort of converted to the Dev cause. Holden (my other friend) just comes to have something to do lol. Still working on him, he admits Dev is incredibly charismatic live so he likes seeing him live but can't really get into the music. Don't get it.

Just fly out here for concerts Cody, we'll be concert buddies. :D

Previous conversations remind me of at the Dev/Meshuggah show. I finally managed to get upfront (noticed a spot available that wasn't being held for anyone), but this biker asshole and his twiggy girlfriend kept trying to push me out of the way. I just gripped the barrier and stood my ground, heedless of their leers. Other people also tried to swim their way through and knock me over. Like hell, I thought, and did my best to play statue. Which sucks because because I wanted to move a bit during the catchier moments.
No conversation, fortunately. Oh well, people are dicks. And the show was awesome.

Or you can come to New York. Probably just a tad cooler than Phoenix/Colorado Springs

Yeah, I saw that guy. He was just glaring at everyone the entire time. His expression never changed, even when Dev got right in his face and badgered the guy. Dev is definitely a nice guy, but that kind of shit really gets to him. I think he was seconds away from tea-bagging the guy.

The least he should do is invite the guy onstage...make him introduce himself to everyone while everyone glares at him.

Well it should, the tough guy metal act is long long long past the point of stupid.

Ya know, at that point, why are you even fucking there? Seriously, just go home and whack off angrily or something. Dev's smile too, I dunno how you can't watch him and not just have a big stupid smile on your face too.

Looking forward to this mans public ridicule.

I'm seriuosly thinking that Retinal Circus might be my last non acoustic Dev show as I'm completely sick of the number of arseholes coming to the shows these days

Were you at the second acoustic one in London? There were those cunts talking through Funeral, everyone kept telling them to shh, and they just got louder. I had to get security on em...I seriously think he should shout out the rude gits so EVERYONE can see them. But be super duper nice about it, ask what their name is, where they're from, what they do, etc. REALLY show them up.

There were some proper obnoxious elitist wankers (and knobheads only there for a fight) at Decon and Addicted in London last year. And in Manchester last March. I had more injuries/heckles at those gigs than when seeing Bloodbath/Suffocation/Aborted/Anaal Nathrakh, etc.

Usually Dev gigs are a haven of nice people compared to some crowds I've been in, but since the Project have been doing so well, it's inevitable the utter cretins have started crawling out of the woodwork. Total shame...But hey, what can you do.

It's not like there haven't been a fair share of weirdo dev fans since the start anyway.

Like racist stalkers with horse faces for example.
