So my wife got me into True Blood and I'm completely hooked. We've smashed through the first four seasons and watched ep 1 of season 5 last night.

The show as described sounds like my worst TV nightmare, but I'd somehow discounted the fact that it's an HBO show. Some of that HBO magic is there for sure. Great characters (Lafayette is just too damned entertaining), weaving plots with unexpected twists, and lots of ridiculously good looking people.

Despite some people being somewhat correct about this, I have to admit I quite loved True Blood too!

Sookie turned out to be a fairy, oh em geeh..

That was somewhat hard to swallow, but the big hunky guy appearing on screen (he has a difficult name, can't remember it now!) totally made it up.
And Lafayette is just awesome, I really like him as a character.
I have three seasons on DVD, and should buy them all.

I think it's trashy garbage. Polished trashy garbage with redeeming factors, but will be completely forgotten a year after its run finishes up.

No doubt! It's unashamedly trashy. And with my extremely limited viewing time and energy at the moment it hits the no-brainer spot beautifully for me right now.

Have you watched The Newsroom? If so is it any good? It's just started here and I've recorded the first episode. Looking forward to it.

Alcide? Yeah my wife is completely smitten, haha. I agree the plot is utterly ridiculous and I found that particular little revelation to be pretty silly, even for True Blood. But like I said, I'm hooked. It's like some over the top soap opera with tits and abs and I... can't... stop... watching!

The Wire just tears me apart. No character is protected. My soul is hurting.

holy cow, the latest Breaking Bad episode was messed up as usual

That one certainly showed how far Walter will go to keep his business going and it clearly showed that it ain't about his family anymore. Also, I hope Jesse will somehow get rid of Todd. He's always been the one that had at least a tiny bit of a guilty conscience left inside of him and so far he never accepted it if a child got harmed. So I hope he'll properly punish Todd. And boy was Mike pissed off on this episode!

The child and the vats of acid. My god. I was bawling, with how horrible it all was. It's as if all of the previous acid use was built up to this.

All I can say is... BB this season is not disappointing in the least.

Walt's full transformation to evil is just fascinating. He has no good left in him, and I think finally Jesse is starting to see that, ie in that scene where Walt's whistling after talking about how much he was torn up over the boys death. Walt just wants to be the kingpin drug lord and have all the power. I'll say it again, one of the most well written TV shows, nay, thing put to a moving image medium ever. Also anyone want to start putting down bets if it's Skyler or Jesse that kills Walt?

I MUST be an extra for the second half of the season. I'm signing up again, and they best call me again.

We'll get the first five episodes of series 7 this fall, and then we'll get the Christmas special (in which the new companion will be introduced), and the rest of the series will continue sometime in 2013.

I haven't watched anything else since starting to watch BB.
Well, I don't even feel like watching anything else yet!
Maybe when this is done, I can move on..
Possibly continue with True Blood (Alcide, yessssss) or maybe re-run The X-Files again?
Or even Battlestar Galactica!

Tough decisions.
