It's a shame the Soundwave Revolution show went down the toilet, as it had an innovative line up.
I must admit, while I do like Van Halen, my interest in them isn't as strong as it was when I was in my teens. Still, their new album ought to be worth a listen.

I'm sorry, I gotta come out and say it, I can't stand Van Halen. I know that's a no-no... but it's true. I see how others like them, and that's totally fine, but not a fan.

Cool photo. I am a long suffering fan and also celebrated the occasion with some alcohol.

Yes I am a big fan of both VH and Dev. I have a VH logo tattoo on my arm but Ocean Machine is my favorite album of all time. In the late 90's I shocked a musical friend by stating that Dev was my new Ed. The last 15 years for VH have been a travesty however the new album is killer, pretty much exceeding everyone's expectations of what they could do at this point in their career. However I was bitterly disappointed that Soundwave Revolution was cancelled as it was a chance to see VH and Dev on the same day. Sadly VH only really seem interested in playing the Americas unless a substantial amount of money is fronted so I may not get the chance to see them play again.

Has anyone else heard this record yet? Thoughts? I think it sounds really really good. Its been a massive surprise as i really didnt think they had it in them. It has a great energy and continuity, Daves vocals and lyrics totally work and Eddie plays with loose conviction. He is such a unique and natural player when on his game, It reminds me how it used to feel when i was a kid listening to their stuff.
Again, more than anything i'm constantly surprised at how fresh and truly enjoyable this record is.

The album is solid, but way too familiar to me. I've been listening to the demo versions of most of these songs for many years now, so it is almost like a covers album for me. lol Great performances, though. Van Halen was my favorite band for all of my high school years, and then some. It is good to have them back. I do miss Michael Anthony's presence, however.

Me. too. I really like the new album. :)

That said... EVH had the best guitar tone ever... from VH to OU812. Then it all went to crap. Ever since he gave up frankenstien and marshall, I really can't
stand Eddies' guitar tone. To go from the "Brown sound", to his current tone... Uhg...

Oh, well. I'm glad he's back, regardless... :)

Bad news for Japanese ' fans ..

From CNN:

Eddie Van Halen is home recovering from surgery.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist had an operation for diverticulitis, an inflammation and infection of the intestines.

According to a rep for the rock group Van Halen, the guitarist first developed the condition while on tour.

^That is nice picture!

Actually, there was a rumor VH wouldn't come to Japan about a week before the official statement. And the rumor has become a reality.
I wish Eddie get well soon, and decided to wait for the announcement the schedule on next year.
