Getting an ANOTHER electric bill for 250 euros. It sure is expensive to heat our home with electricity.

It is always expensive to heat with electricity. And the highest carbon index of any fuel.

Aunt No.1 - Breast cancer, two surgeries in two weeks, now starting chemotherapy despite initial diagnosis being that she'd avoid it as a result of surgery.

Aunt No.2 - Bladder cancer, went for surgery to remove part of her bladder and came out with the following parts removed: whole bladder, her womb, her ovaries, part of her stomach and some parts of her bowels. Now back in hospital having been released with suspected lung failure and possible cancer there.

Uncle - Just cleared from oesophageal, lung and stomach cancer over Christmas. Had his stomach halved in size and bound up into a small tube to stop him eating large quantities of food and as a result some of his other internal organs have shifted slightly in position and in the process damaged whatever bindings they had on the stomach. In for surgery again next week.

Grandmother - Fell on ice a few weeks back, broken hand and wrist in four places and feeling some jerking pain in her brain from possible swelling as a result of the impact. Her head's fine now but her bones aren't fusing together properly in her hand so she's stuck in the cast and can't move her fingers. This being the same woman who is still not over the death of my Granddad in November 2010 and has basically spent her time since then bouncing around my various aunts and uncles on that side of the family. She was back home about 15 minutes when she fell and did that damage.

Aaaand my Dad is developing arthritis and serious ligament and tendon damage to his shoulder which, if it gets worse, would put him out of work for several months as a result of necessary surgery. He's a cobbler and works by himself so if his arm is out of action for that long that would basically cost him his shop, and my mom can't work to compensate because she has a severely twisted pelvis from a fall, and chronic back problems as a result, which seriously limit her ability to do nearly anything strenuous at all.

Christ. Difficult to get my head wrapped around all that. When it rains, it pours.
