They should include karaoke versions of every song, like they do on anime song singles. "The Mighty Masturbator" could grind any karaoke session to a halt. Like the time I imported "Earth Day" into Lips (the Xbox 360 karaoke game) and majorly pissed off my friend. "How long IS this song?!"

I'd be inclined to agree. To me the discs are the main thing of the boxset but they seem to be treated like an afterthought. Even ignoring the horrible look of them, if their holders are made from cardboard (which it looks like) it'll be falling apart in no time. Also, would I be right in thinking that the vinyl and litho will be just fucked between the pages? :?

Ok guys, for cereal, I'm just gonna come out and say it... quit bitching, especially before the thing is even in your hands. Once you have it go nuts. I'm pretty sure that's not cardboard, it looks like a soft felt-like material to me. As for the bonus disks, I'm sorry, but who gives? With the amount the other shit you're getting in this thing I think the fact that the CDs themselves are just plain silver is a pretty silly complaint. And if you want to throw in how I said crappy CD-Rs in my dream, that had nothing to do with the pictures, and they were like handwritten on, to explain that. But seriously, for 80 or 100 bucks (thats US for me), depending on which you got, that's a steal for 8 disks, a giant book, and possibly a litho and a record. That breaks down to less than ten dollars a disk, if you consider how much the book is worth. Just saying.

I'd love this boxset even if it was made out of snot and paper-mache... because I've already paid for it, and couldn't possibly deal with the cognitive dissonance I would face if it wasn't bitchin'

No seriously though, I think this boxset is epic! No complaints here!

And maybe you should quit praising the thing before you have it in your hands. Just a thought.

So Omerch have got the 28th listed as the release date... InsideOut have December 9th. And that edition is apparently numbered and signed, but that's not mentioned on InsideOut. And the patch isn't on Omerch but it is on InsideOut. Ugh... Fuck sake. Shit used to be so easy to order a few years ago. Down with all this multi-supplier asshattery!

How boring would the world be if we all thought like that...

Everyone will have it to decide if they like it soon enough, no need for angst!

I think it looks pretty cool, I can't say the look of the discs is no 1 priority for me, but either way, I get that they fit the overall design. Only time will tell

What? The packaging isn't made of gold?!? The discs aren't real silver with
the music etched in by hand and the book isn't hand written by Devin??
What gives? And then you say it's not ten feet tall and spews rainbows
every time you open it? What's next? That it doesn't create a natural
substitute heroin-high when you lick the picture on the front?

I don't think I'll be buying this after all.

Emailed InsideOut to see if I can cancel that order and hope that the ones on Omerch don't sell out before the money from InsideOut comes back to me... Don't wanna have to wait an extra two weeks for the unsigned and numbered pack just to ship when I can get the signed thing probably delivered and all next week.

Hmmm... I'm not convinced that this one is signed. The description doesn't say that it is, just this:

Devin Townsend Project (Contain Us) Box Set + Bonus LP

It isn't mentioned in the initial O Merch description that it contains the signed litho. Then you read the actual product description:

A 12” x 12”, 64-page, perfect bound book featuring a charcoal linen hardcover with ink-less debossing of the DTP logo on the front and titling on the spine.

Housed in a charcoal linen, hardcover slipcase – presented with a photographic portrait of Devin inset on the front and ink-less embossing of titling on the spine.

Contains the following: the DTP albums: Ki, Addicted, Ghost, and Deconstruction plus 2 bonus DVDs and CDs. The DVDs have one featuring live performances and all the DTP promotional videos while the other has audio commentary for all 4 albums, live audio tracks, song stems for remixing and more. One of the audio CDs features all the bonus tracks from the DTP sessions with the other having the DTP session demos.

The 4 DTP albums will be housed within the front inside cover while the 4 unreleased discs will be in the back inside.

The interior features acid free, linen-embossed charcoal end papers and museum-quality dull text and cover stock throughout.

lThe center of the book features a double gatefold centerpiece printed on cover stock and comprised of the 4 album covers on one side and a portrait series of Devin on the other.

A clean, crisp, classic-yet-modern design featuring color and B&W imagery throughout. Materials include Devin and the band’s personal archives, both candid and fine art photography from around the world.

A permanently attached, purple fabric linen bookmark.

This edition is limited to 2,500 copies.

Okay, this seems like any old DTP boxset description, which has been stated to actually be limited to 5,000 copies worldwide. Inside Out says " Limited to 2.500 box sets in Europe (5.000 worldwide!)." If that is the case, then the O Merch store and the Inside Out store both can't have 2,500 copies, right? So we really have no idea which store has what as far as numbers go. With that in mind:

500 individually-numbered, limited edition copies that include two exclusive items: A. An autographed lithographic print featuring original artwork by Devin drawn exclusively for this edition, and a 10” piece of vinyl featuring two exclusive tracks.

We have no idea if this description is accurate for O Merch, either. The whole description reads as just a generic one to describe both the standard and special edition sets.

Nowhere in any of that does it state that the one you are ordering will be one of the signed. Not in the O Merch item description, or in the overall description. The O Merch item description doesn't even mention the litho, just the vinyl. A red flag for me is the price difference between the two editions. The CM Distro ones made clear which versions were signed and which weren't, and had the versions priced $20 apart. Inside Out have said that the Deluxe version is not signed, and they price their sets at £10 apart. O Merch does not say they are selling the signed litho in their item description, and their versions are also only £10 apart.

So, I would recommend trying to get some more info on what you are actually getting before ordering. Buyer, beware! I wouldn't assume anything about these boxsets. If I was going to buy one from O Merch, I would definitely want more clarification.
