Leaving my fourth-row place at Deconstruction to stand at the back, partly because of the rude, elbowing, vaginal-scented (literally) dick stood next to me, and partly to check on my girlfriend, who had moved to the back because she felt dehydrated. I regretted it, because I could barely see during the show, but to her immense credit, my girlfriend let me stand on her steel-toed shoes so I could see a little better. Now that's love!

The next day, standing outside the Union Chapel and spending the day chatting with the four members of No Redemption, and later meeting some forum people. Totally made up for the dickheads who came crawling out of their holes to see Deconstruction.

Oh, and the old, obnoxious ticket tout who stalked the ULU all three days. He wore the same ratty clothes three days in a row, almost got into a punch-up with another tout, kept pronouncing Devin's name as "Devlin" and, at one point, took a piss across the street, in full view of a queue of several hundred people. What a class act!

EDIT: By the way, all, feel free to add me on Facebook, if that's the kind of thing you do. Name's Joe Oliver Edwards. Look far enough back in my photos and there are loads of me wearing a wig and a miniskirt. Whether that's a promise or a threat depends on the person.

Wrote a long piece on my laptop I was going to share with you all. But uh... it died... Hopefully it can be saved. Until then: EVERYTHING WAS BLOODY AWESOME! And seeing as I am a Norwegian (read: not a person of big words), that says a lot. :3
So stoked about the Roundhouse gig. Always something to look forward to regarding Dev. Most of all I am looking forward to hang out with you all again. </ohthecheeeeeese>

OH, I thought of another one, but I can't steal Hedonismbot's limelight so a double post is necessary.

The INSANE rush for the barrier at the Decon show was definitely a memorable moment. Me, Matt and Morten (heh) were sort of casually strolling towards the front when they opened the internal double doors before seeing that they'd thrown open the shutters by the bar and there was a ridiculous tide of people stampeding towards the front, thus enticing us to actually make the effort to run to the front, scaring the unmerciful shite out of the bouncer when we all laced into the barrier at top speed... Opening those shutters was ludicrous though. If anyone had slipped and fell during that stampede they'd have had to be hospitalised...

With the drunk dick making ominous drunk-sounds behind us. Dick.

I can't believe how lucky I was with the places I got to stand during the gigs. :|
With Ki I had VIP, but then I was actually a bit late to the barriers because they opened the gates before the door (which I was standing behind). I still got a good place with all the epic peoplezz around me. :3
At Addicted some very nice VIP-people let me stand between them by the barrier. I can never say thanks enough for that! Also, due to immense pushing, I all of a sudden found several friends around me. Nice!
Before the Deconstruction show they stuffed us all in the VIP/merch room, and this time standing by the door proved itself to be quite smartical. :D There were epic forum people along the entire barrier, and biert pretty much took all the pushing behind me. Can't complain. :P
At Ghost there was no stress really. Sat on the second row to the right. Could pretty much see everything from there, including a weeping audience. :D

Aye I remember the crush at Addicted, as soon as Amplifier finished and the shoops were shown there was a huge surge from the back and we were all squished like sardines. Luckily I had a 6"4' Mike standing behind me but still was crushed against a small lass with a stupid hairdo in front of me.
Was it at Ki or Addicted where that lad fainted in the crowd? Bless the security guys who handed out glasses of water to those of us at the front. Absolute godsend. :)

It was at Ki he fainted, and it's sad I know this and reveals how much I twitter stalk Dev :D that's awesome they were handing out water, usually security, especially where I live, are steroided douche bags on a power trip who take pleasure out of people's suffering.

The fainter got pulled out just before the crescendo of Ki hit... Sucks to be him wit that timing because that crescendo and the Quiet Riot sing-along were the best parts of the night!! And yeah, the water was very much appreciated. Addicted was fucking tiring... There was none for Decon though! Could've done with some a few times during the night.

Like Faffy, I was delighted with my positioning for all four nights as well... Every night in the ULU I was just to the left of centre, once a row of people back for Ki and then on the barrier for Addicted and Deconstruction. Got a seat right in the middle of the fourth row for the Ghost show then, tucked in behind assorted VIPs and band people, and right beneath the very centre of the AMAZING ceiling of the Union Chapel. All perfect.

And I feel we should also take the opportunity to apologise to those two guys in the queue that always got there just after one or two of the really early-arrival forum people and subsequently found themselves being pushed further and further back as more and more forum people turned up. Maybe next year they'll think to say hello!

OH, and next year, if we're all sitting down outside the doors and everything is nice and relaxed; if someone opens a door, for fuck sake DON'T STAND UP. It's usually nothing exciting and totally kills the mood!!

Hahaha...Werd, brah!
I was near you all three nights except Decon, which was when the exhaustion fully hit and me, Mike and Sanne were by the door. Still got a great view though :)
Then you gave me beer and AIDS on our last night at the hostel. Cheers for that though, best laughs I've had for ages. :D

I'll be sure to work on my 'steroided douchebag/powertrip' routine for my future security work endeavours too.

My thoughts on the Decon gig, and I think a few others that ran with me as well, was that it was either barrier or the back. After Addicted everyone was fairly exhausted so it would've just been a bit crap to be floating around in the middle... But the back wasn't too appealing so it was definitely worth the run to be where we were. Incessant groovy headbanging for Shining was much easier with the fence to prop yourself up on. Plus we were right in front of the powerfisting hammerhanded keyboard player. What a man...

Another highlight from the Decon night was definitely the security guy who happened to wander into the centre press pit at a very unfortunate time and got trapped amidst the rushing tide of Ziltoid for President balloons that didn't quite make it all the way to the stage. Watching him attempt to swap places with the bouncer on the left hand side where we were was brilliant...

I was absolutely knackered for Decon night. Or the whole day, actually. Me and Wout (and Steph and Mike, who joined us earlier for the Natural History Museum in the late afternoon) decided not to bother queuing at all so we arrived around 7.30, half an hour after doors opening. Still found a decent spot about halfway through the crowd on the left side, not too crowded, not many tall people thus plenty of opportunity to view the action onstage.

I probably would've enjoyed one of the nights (or all) standing at the barriers, but I really didn't feel like sacrificing half a day in a city that has so much to offer for simply waiting outside a closed door.

edit- Yes, we were dicks for arriving late at the Union Chapel and still joining the front of the queue where the other forumers were.

I didn't mind the long queueing because I literally would've died without the thing to prop myself up on, so it was well worth it in that sense. And I still got to see pretty much everything I wanted to see across the few days. And there's always next year to see more! :D

I saw it as more of a forumer's perk than being a dick. :P

My ribs are still sore from being smacked directly against the rail by two overly aggressive Italians at Decon.

I may be pregnant.
