I've just seen the third episode, I believe, last week and I really liked it. Not one to follow a dramatic series usually (not much of a tv person generally), but it's definitely gripping. And I'll follow it if I get the opportunity. The ending of that particular episode definitely just *wham* sealed the deal for me. :D

Finished Breaking Bad series 4 the other day... It's going to be such a long wait to see the next series. Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul deserve every bit of praise they get for that show. Some absolutely immense stuff...

Also re-watched Boardwalk Empire and found it just as entertaining as the first go-around. I can't handle the whole week-to-week wait so I'm not watching the new series till it's finished airing on TV, and the same goes for the new Dexter and The Walking Dead. Looking forward to seeing what this Hell On Wheels show that AMC is piloting in a week or two will be like as well. Sounds like it could be a good one...

Currently, I'm watching Outrageous Fortune, which was a bit of a surprise, really. One of our mates is a Kiwi and he recommended that me and the girlfriend watch it so we kind of just started watching it as filler before we could find something better but it's actually a really, really good series! Any NZ or Aussies on here ever watch it as well? I think it's got a great set of characters and it's just a damn good watch in general so it's got us fairly hooked at the moment!

Yeah I'm the same way. Can't be having this weekly installment crap.

TRIED to watch a bit of Terra Nova a while back. What a steamer.

Saw the first two episodes of the latest season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia... Mac is fat!

The show keeps getting better every year.

I think the biggest thing that show has going for it is the acting of those two. Bryan Cranston in particular gives a better and more nuanced performance than anyone else I can think of in recent times (excluding James Gandolfini in The Sopranos if that counts).

My only gripe with the show is how fake it all seems. It really is in it's own universe. I have a hard time understanding the actions of the characters. And just how on EARTH is Walt still alive?! It's just ridiculous.

But aside from that... It's quality TV.

Obviously it has its own pseudo-reality, but I'm kinda annoyed with people who expect TV to be pitch perfect with reality. Do you expect this from any other show? No. It's a longform crime film, and all of the great crime films make similar leaps.

And it's not like Walt has been shot or anything.

And I take Bryan over James any day.

It's not that I expect TV to be exactly the same as reality. I just feel like when I'm watching Breaking Bad I'm constantly reminded, unintentionally, that the stuff happening on screen doesn't make much sense.

***************SEASON FOUR SPOILERS BELOW******************

So here's a couple of examples:

Okay, Gus has Walt and Jesse cooking meth for him. That's fair. But he wants Walt out. Victor knows the entire process and how to work the methlab - he demonstrates that, as a matter of fact. What does Gus do? He kills Victor with a box cutter. Say whaaaaaaat? What motive could he possibly have for this? Victor has demonstrated that he is serviceable and loyal. Walt has shown anything but. So why doesn't he kill Walt? He has never had a reason to not kill him... Until he killed the only other person that knew how to operate the machinery that was not named Walt or Jesse.

Later on, Jesse refuses to talk to Walt. He kicks him off his property when Walt comes to him, hysterical. The final scene of the season implies that Walt intentionally poisoned the child. This does not make sense. Are you telling me that just because Jesse told him to leave him alone that he would resort to potentially KILLING a child just to get his attention? I know that Walt is self centered and an awful human being in some ways, but there are easier and far LESS dangerous ways of getting Jesse's attention.

I'm not saying that these kind of things happen in every episode. If memory serves, I didn't have much of a problem with the third season. But aside from that, things in the show do tend to annoy me at times - especially when they're rather important plot devices. Understand that I'm not expecting it to be real, I'm just expecting to be able to believe it. Sometimes I can't. That's just me, I guess.

***************END OF SPOILERS******************

As far as James and Bryan go, that comes down to personal opinion. They're both top-notch in their respective shows but I thought that Tony Soprano's psyche was explored much further than Walt's and because of that I really felt drawn to his character. It was a love/hate thing, the same way it is with Walt, but I definitely cared more about Tony Soprano.

psh Victor was sloppy and provided a loose end. He was witnessed by people in the building and was obviously a stranger.

The one thing Gus hated almost as much as Tio was loose ends.

I had a long debate with someone about the poison subplot. Ultimately, it hasn't been completed yet, but every season finale has them painted into a corner. They've yet to disappoint on it.

From an interview with Vince Gilligan (you can find it here)
And Walt was somehow able to get access to Brock, to give him the berries.

VG: Yeah. That part's probably the trickiest part. I can't remember the specifics, but we worked it out in the writer's room. He technically had enough hours to do it. How he found his way over there unseen is probably a little improbable, perhaps, but not impossible, is the way we figured it.

So it looks like they're running with that. Not a fan personally!

Vince runs this show fast and loose, I don't know where you hopped on, but this isn't the first controversy. They ALWAYS tie it back together. The fact is, no one has everything deliberately planned out the entire way through, and since we haven't had a real explanation yet, it's up to them to provide one. If ultimately they just kinda drop it, then yeah, it's fucked. I know I seem like an apologist, but honestly this is just how shit's actually made, if they weren't transparent about it, they'd probably not catch as much shit.

ive been trying to follow it, expecting something awesome to occur

fruitlessly

guess I won't waste my time with that one then. Already wasted enough watching Falling Skies...

I'm enjoying the second season of The Walking Dead so far and also loved the new Beavis & Butt-Head episodes.
