I've played Arkham City a lot this weekend. Believe the hype...it's awesome.
I still have yet to play Arkham Asylum... have to pick it up before I get City.

you're in for a treat then. Both games are awesome!
I picked up Arkham City yesterday but I haven't finished Asylum...a friend reckons it's a must to finish Asylum first but my Internet at home is horrible and I just bought it from steam the other day so I haven't had the chance to play it yet, since the last time I did ages ago anyways. So tempting..

If you don't eat your meat you can't have any pudding.

HOW CAN YOU HAVE ANY PUDDING IF YOU DON'T EAT YOUR MEAT?!
Bought a load of older games t'other day. Presents from me, to me:
De Blob 2. ('cause the first one is also mint)
Fallout 3.
Dragon Age (Origins)
Bioshock 2.
Funtimes ahead!

Been playing Forza 4 during most of my free time over the past 2 weeks. Best racing game I've ever played, far better than Gran Turismo. I used to be a fanatic of that series, but they dropped the ball with GT5.
If only it had a better soundtrack, it might be perfect.

I'm so glad I'm not the only person who actually found that game entertaining, rather than looking at the cover and going, "pffshh kid's game" and shoving it aside.

It's awesome. We're awesome.

i miss the days where a full retail game could just be pure fun and not over srs.
I don't miss anything because it's all still there. There's serious games like Arkham City, Red Dead Redemption or Mass Effect and then there's mindless fun like Dead Rising, New Mario Bros. or Donkey Kong. The only thing I'd bitch about is that retail games are often cut down so the rest of the game can be released as DLC. But then again, how can I complain when I'm dumb enough to buy it often enough?
Arkham City is really a fantastic game. It indeed is much bigger than Arkham Asylum, there's tons of things to do and the "city" looks awesome. I hope the next game will be set in Gotham City and that you'll be able to drive through the city

Well it's mostly Nintendo flying that flag lately, and that's just not cool to the uber game nerds.

I was having similar thoughts recently, how alot of games now are not set up to get you immediately having fun, but have you do tons of things that are generally boring or if not boring, very slow paced. I'm playing Deus Ex now, and I quite enjoy it, but it's a very slow paced, dialogue and plot heavy game, you can't just jump in for a quick 20 minutes of fun.
Those fun games do exist and I've been looking forward to 2 of em coming out within the next year: SSX deadly descent, sports game are usually good at having the fun factor readilly available, but some are getting too close to simulation to keep that fun factor. My NHL 12 is great, but they are taking away alot of what I call "arcade" features.
Also Saint's Row 3, well theres alot of running around, but at least you can wreck havoc while doing so, and usually they have a decent musical array.
If you don't grok it, drokk it!
well, there's also games like Vanquish, Bayonetta, Gears of War, etc. etc. where you can just play for half an hour and have fun. I don't think it's just Nintendo putting out games like that. Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely nostalgic too but nostalgia is only nice as long as it doesn't keep you from enjoying other good things. I can enjoy the entire spectrum of music, movies and games.

I suppose that's fair. I have a very hard time playing 3D shooting games (first person or otherwise), and do not typically enjoy them.
