The ending of the most recent 'Dexter' was beyond terrifying. Yikes. Anyone else watching this season? What do you think?

Anything that the Chaser touches is gold. My dad is best mates with Julian Morrow's dad, so we get the lowdown on what's happening next! It's so good that the Hamster Wheel is up and running:

Poo. I liked Tom and Adam.

And "Ban the Burqa" started in Geelong, eh? Why am I NOT surprised....?
There are some severely cellular-defective organisms slithering around here, and the city makes the news for all the wrong reasons again. :x

Are you referring to Season 4 with John Lithgow, or 5 with Julia Stiles? The latter just came out on DVD a couple of months ago.

If season four, I agree the ending is dark and chilling, and one of the most powerful moments in the series. Five's ending was intense, but not quite as dark; makes me excited for when season 6 is released here (likely will have to stream it as it may not show on regular TV for months after it's cable showing).

Arrgghhh Sue Perkins! I find her the most tedious woman in media. And Giles Coren is a wanker too.

Anthony Bourdain is great however.

I was impressed by the adaptation of Game of Thrones. I kind of bogged down with the books - it's been so long since a Feast of Crows I would have to read the whole series again to get back up to speed for Dance with Dragons I am not sure I have the fortitude (or the time), but the TV version sort of revitalised my interest.

The Borgias is shaping up to be pretty good.

I'm referring to season 6 actually! Not the whole season, just the most recent episode. Sorry for being unclear!

I thought season five was solid. Four, I couldn't get into the subplots. I did like the reporter chick, though. Oh and as good an idea the surprise ending was... it really was executed quite poorly.

Mos Def is in this season. His character is pretty interesting so far. A former killer who got out of prison, found god, and is trying to atone for his mistakes - or so we're led to believe. Dexter is incredulous, of course, and doesn't believe that someone can just stop killing. it's an interesting angle because his is not even the major storyline. The main antagonists seem to be two religious fanatics played by Colin Hanks and Edward James Olmos. They are up to something that (naturally) involves killing people.

You can already find episodes online if you know where to look (I'm sure you do, its not hard to find). They're 3-4 episodes in right now.

I'm gearing up to watch the Star Trek tv shows, starting with the original series.
Never watched those, and being enthusiastic about science fiction, it is missing from my credentials, hopefully it's not as boring as it looks.

I've heard comparisons with The Wire. This is the next show on my list to watch, unless I decide to get back into Boardwalk Empire first. After all, I can only watch so many shows at one time.

What I'm watching right now: HIMYM, Big Bang Theory, Dexter, Community and Breaking Bad (though, this season just finished so it doesn't really count). I have yet to see an episode of this season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

I've never seen Sue or Giles in anything other than Supersizers so I have no concept of their potential twatishness! I'll have to take your word for it. Just curious though... is Coren a food critic of any actual worth?

Watching Bourdain makes me pine for travel, so it's a bittersweet experience. But I do it anyway as he's so entertaining, especially if you've read Kitchen Confidential. And he's a champion of New York delis which I also miss very much. Tragic that they're fast disappearing.

Oh yeah, +1 for Carnivale!

I <3 Castle. Sure it can be a bit predictable at times but Welcoming Nathan Fillion into my home once a week just feels so shiny.

Holy Flying Circus was a rather amusing version of the furore around The Life of Brian when it was made in '79. Casting Stephen Fry as God at the end was splendidly funny.

FFFFFFFFF DEXTER FFFFFFFFFFF

I think Dexter is the only tv show I watch at the moment... also the only tv show I've seen all episodes of (that is...you know... of several seasons). Love it!

Fresh Meat. Student humour - and with Gary, Tank Commander in it!

Frozen Planet - Just, stunningly gorgeous filming! Also the last episode of Dr Alice Roberts' Origins of Us three part series was very cool. (She's nearly as smiley as Prof. Brian Cox.)

American Horror Story just came out here. Not bad, it's almost like a Sam Raimi movie.

A lot of people aren't so into this season. I find that strange because for the first time I actually care about his sister's storyline. Before it was always "Deb is in love with an old guy", "Deb is seeing Quinn (but no one really likes him so you don't care)", "Deb is a victim and being emotional all the time", blah blah blah... I like seeing her in a position of power and making good decisions for once.

I'm also glad that the whole kill-of-the-week stuff has been dialled back this season.
