it's not news to me because she's been fucked up for the last 18 years and has done little but embrace sickness as her identity. give it and inch and it will take a mile. i came to terms with her mortality a long time ago and for reasons that are tl;dr, it's a positive thing. i don't want any condolences. what bothers me though is my complete lack of empathy or sympathy.

Well, whatever the situation cancer is un-awesome. If the inevitable happens sooner rather than later I hope it happens with the least amount of suffering involved.

I've been studying 8 to 11 hour days this week and have been pretty active socially for my standards. Choir practice, lots of group exercises, meeting new people and stuff. Now a three day weekend (with maybe 4 hours studying per day) is coming. My friends coming over and I've made some pizza and brought a few beers. Felt pretty good all day.

But.

I don't know why but I can feel myself slowly slipping into depression as I'm typing this. Maybe I can bounce back with music and a beer but this is really weird. You guys ever have weird mood swings for no reason?

Quite un-awesome. Should be gone now. I don't mind deleting 10 spam posts, but I do when they contain graphic images. Hopefully the university network administration won't bother me about that. :P

They do, but it's difficult to keep them out. It's reason #1 that we're trying to get this forum upgraded soon.

agreed. she almost died of colon cancer a couple years ago, but all the side effects of the treatments and whatnot are still hanging around.
this has been going on for so long that i think most of my family would like to see it just end... her included. i don't think any of us see death as a negative thing in general. we're all a bunch of nihilists. i am loathe to admit that i still live with my parents, but i've watched her go downhill with great intimacy over the years and it just looks so bleak now.

I will say, since this sort of thing is kinda affecting my life personally right now, I think it's time to be thankful that you live in Oregon, right? It doesn't have to be prolonged.
